You don't even need much for your needs, an i3, 4gb of ram and what amount of hard drive space is more then enough for your needs.
So all the ones linked are quite overkill, unless you actually want a more powerful processor....

Well there might come a time when I need it for more, and I may as well pay for more storage space and ram since I can afford it. But I don't really know which brands are most reliable and which should be avoided. My last laptop was a Dell which served me ok but wasn't exactly great. So the cheaper of those two Samsungs should be fine isn't it?

processor you can go for the i5 if you want, ram is easy to upgrade, about £20 for a 4gb stick and just slot it in once you open the bottom panel up and even with your needs you'll barely use have of 4gb.

By the way football manager is quite weak on graphics so easy to play on the HD4000, issues could arise if you play other more graphic intense games if you plan on it.

This would be a much better choice.

Yep that's definitely the kind of laptop I am looking for. I think I'm going to buy it !
Could you possibly tell me what this part of specification means?
''Processor - Intel Pentium T4300 - 2.1 GHz''. (This is in a different laptop).

What Gofre said, certainly the better choice.

The Intel Pentium T4300 you mention is outdated now (over 3 years), Core i3/5/7 is where you want to be if you were to choose a laptop with an Intel processor www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Pentium-Dual-Core-T4300-Notebook-Processor.24436.0.html

I see. So what part of the specifications of this laptop would be at a disadvantage compared to the one Gofre adviced me?

Toshiba
- 2nd Hand
- Only 3 month warranty, brand new laptops should have a standard year warranty.
+ Marginally better processor

Agree with Gofre to be honest, eventhough the thinkpad is excellent for reliability, the specs are too poor for todays times not to forget its a exdisplay.

Definitely go with Gofre's choice, the issue with the one your looking at is that the i3 model is ambigious it could be the 1st gen which is about a year + outdated, not to mention that its a refurb and for £10 more you can pick up a brand new Lenovo with a 2nd gen i3.

The 2 below come close to Gofre's but are slightly more expensive, overall Lenovo is the best choice as they have a good reputation for good builds.

I want my battery to last. Do you think a good way of doing that is to take the battery out, and using the charger instead?

Personally, there's no point taking the battery out, accidentally tripping on the power cord without the battery can lead to data corruption, which is a pain in the back side. Instead, just don't charge it unless you need to.

theres a old thread on it, different views however
Hi, a few days ago my old laptop gave up and died on me. Can you help me find a replacement ? I use my laptop for programming and modelling as well as occasional gaming. Right now I'm leaning towards buying a Lenovo Y580 with i7-3610QM processor, 8GB of ram and GeForce GTX 660M GPU for 720 GBP. Do you think that's a good choice ?

What kind of modelling are we talking about?
And how much for that laptop?

When I adjust my laptop screen pushing it up and down, it seems very weak and automatically goes more down. I think the screws are not tight enough, how can I make the laptop screen part stronger?
