Its only dual core. Also not sure whether the lack of a graphics card is a problem. Will it be able to run football manger well?

Football Manager is hardly powerful gaming, so yes it should be absolutely fine. (http://www.footballmanager.com/manual/?id=408) Unless you're looking a much more powerful types of gaming, integrated vs discrete graphics doesn't really make a difference.

Well that's good but the dual core peoccessor is still not ideal

They shouldn't be too heavy.....if you want what you stated you won't get every little specification. Look at Novatechm they offer some slim looking custom laptops.
I Would like to know about the extended warranty feature of which brand is cheap and best...as its a matter of great concern.
Where's the best place to buy a laptop relatively cheap but a good laptop so good deals basically?

Depends, sometimes random deals pop up at your typical high street retailers......otherwise saveonlaptop, ebuyer, amazon, etc
But specs really do depend on your budget, usage and needs.
Need some help on choosing a laptop -->

I am a medical student so really i will be using the laptop for a loooot of word processing and typing.

Budget: under £350

Features that will be nice:

1. Fast - enough for me to edit several word documents and pdf at once. I also have 30-30 tabs open on my chrome browser as well ... which seem to slow my current laptop down a lot.

2. Nice keyboard

Thx

Your budget is far too low in my opinion....considering your usage I'd say an i5 and 8gb of ram would be great.
That said, another consideration is the keyboard and whether its any good on a laptop.
Ideally I would get a quad core, there is a pentium option in that regards.

Thx for replying ... i know my budget is low - thats why i am finding it difficult to choose.

what about the asus x551ca ... it is a 3rd generation core i3 with 4gb ram.

What this guy said

20 chrome tabs will suck your resources. Doing a lot of typing means you will want a close to full size keyboard with good travel. Otherwise you won't be able to type as quickly or comfortably. I've found Thinkpads have the best keyboards and some of the other Lenovo laptops carry that DNA too. You'd need to try them out

You're gonna have to compromise somewhere. Look at refurbs too, like Dell. Try to buy something that at least has user upgradeable RAM. It'll be cheap to add some more.

You need 8gb of ram, chrome is heavy on ram especially the more tabs you open.

Basically looking for an i5 but mostly used for work and the occasional games/tv shows here nd there would like something quite fast not sure what about quad core processor and the likes but I'd take recommendations. Budget is I'd say something like £350 too.

Which games?

Also be aware in terms of Laptops the i3, i5 and the lowest end i7 are all dual core with 4 threads.
Theres a cheaper pentium quad core which isn't bad, but obviously there are downside here and there.

Can you not push it?
Since this has been started, would this make a good custom built laptop?

PcSpecialist Cosmos 15.6 Full HD screen with I5 processor, 1TB storage, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 850M graphics card, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit? I am choosing Windows 7 due to the fact that I just had Windows 8.1 and had issue with wifi connectivity... so had to return my laptop for a refund.

My main use would be Internet browsing, casual gaming but not something like COD or Wow etc.

The wifi issue will almost certainly been hardware rather than the OS

I can't blame him for mistaking it for the software rather than the hardware due to the way the wifi looks on windows 8 is horrendous compared to 7.

I don't think so. Have you tried a Solid state drive(SSD). They will make a whole of difference. Trust me on it. Ram would be overkill and if you aren't gaming why go for the graphics card? What casual games do you mean? Like flash games? How much would this cost?

I have a 2014 macbook air and this suits my needs perfectly and does pretty much anything I require except gaming. The keyboard is amazing. Maybe you should look into the macbook pro for the retina(HD) display, if the price point is similar as it will probably be more suitable for browsing and so on.

For gaming, I had in mind Runescape, Cities in Motion that kind of minimal games  I have ipad, I don't think I need another Apple product :P

So, SSD is far better than HDD? I have no clue anything about SDD :P

I've read that Windows 8 caused a lot of issues for many people in terms of wifi connectivity, of course, it cannot possibly be a hardware issue for everyone :mmm: or can it?

Oh okay, I see.

This will enlighten you more than I probably could.

In short it just means you will probably get 3x or more faster boot speeds and the laptop will be supercharged(can boot up in like 14 seconds).
