Multi-Stage Sampling

Me and 3 others are supposed to be doing a presentation on this for AS Business Studies. Problem is - I've never even heard of it! And it doesn't even mention it in our textbook. I was hoping someone who'd already done AS (preferably OCR) Business could give me a definition and explain it a little. Thanks in advance!

Whoa! It's probably too late, but multistage sampling is when the population is too large so you need cluster samples or multiple stages of sampling.

IE) If you want to get the average IQ of population=America.

Thus you'd break this down into many different stages. First by states, then by counties, then SRS for districts, then SRS for towns, etc.
