There's always a petition about something or other.

Come on dude! - You cant liken/suggest/imply muslims who speak out to barking dogs, whats wrong with you? That's seriously rude and offensive.

I agree that's offensive, but it's not racist. I wish people would stop using 'race' beyond a genetic context because people can then start making anything up as a race, i.e. cultural things. Also, if it's possible to be racist in a non-genetic context, it sort if removes the whole 'I can't help the way I am' thing.
Maybe because they can see above her knees

It's ridiculous! Lady Gaga's videos are intentionally anti-christ and offensive to Christianity but no-body does or says anything about that! Get over it

Where even to begin with Gaga - even though I love her music and the art that goes into her videos

1. Alejandro - the scene where she swallowed/placed the cross in her mouth
2. Judas - her portrayal of Mary Magdalena

These are perhaps the two videos which have caused the most religious offence.

What about Madonna in Like a Prayer?
I remember that the video for one of her songs got pulled the day before/after the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and got replaced with a simpler version of the song (I think both versions are on YouTube)

Maybe Katy Perry or her crew should have checked it out before proceeding, or even erasing the scene in the editing suite. However, as has been pointed out previously with reference to Lady Gaga, such scenes have either been removed, censored during daytime hours or the song has just gone to play on the radio instead.

Let's just remember that there are a lot bigger issues than this going on in the world right now.

I'm just speaking out what's morally right. We need to completely get rid this 'them' and 'us' attitude between muslims and non-muslims - a British citizen is a British citizen, no matter where your family comes from.

If a group of citizens dislike the crude nature of a certain artists, fearing social effects, then why should they not fulfill their democratic right and start a petition? I'd so the same.

I think it is morally right to eradicate left wing thinking, that does not mean I want to ban the Labour party/ socialist party.
I think it is morally right for everyone to be atheist, that does not mean it is right to ban all religions.
Islam bans homosexuality and wants killed if they engage in homosexual acts, that does make it right to ban Islam.

Your argument is retarded. You talk about morality, and then advocate censorship. Good one.

People, they have the right to free speech and as such, you should respect that as is a basic human right in the western world.
It does not insight hatred nor does it insight violence towards others.

GET A GRIP, it is a music video!

Erm except no. Respect goes two ways. There was no need to add this pendant to the man, it adds nothing to the video and almost seems provocative. You say it does not incite hatred, but it does encourage negative connotations when a man wearing a pendant affiliated with a certain religion is 'zapped'. Tbh, if it was only just to do with Katy Perry/sexualization alone there would have been many muslim petitions out already. It's only out for this one because of that clip with the man wearing the religious pendant.

Nice sources, bro. Putin's propaganda channel and the daily fail make a perfect couple. This really confirms the gravity of the issue.

What I don't get is why put the pendant in the video in the first place? What purpose does it actually serve - like whoever made the video must have known this would have happened and yet it still appears. My point is why does this BS happen in the first place?

Hmmm....let's see.. 'slams homosexuals and non muslims, causing deaths and abuse of innocents'. I'd just like to to ask whether you have actually studied the Quran or have come up with the bull**** merely because you are genuinely stupid. Firstly, passages in the quran could be interpreted differently and one must consider the time of which the quran was written and the events at the time.
'Music video unintentionally burns a name' ... 'UNINTENTIONALLY' .please. stop. that's the silliest things to say. That's all.

Hmm...

Quran slams homosexuals and non-Muslims, causing deaths and abuse of innocents = isn't banned, heck it's glorified.

Music video unintentionally burns a name = All hell breaks loose.

Interesting where these people's priorities lie.

Exactly, it almost seems like they're trying to provoke a reaction :s Serves no purpose in the video whatsoever.

An animal can not have rationale as the word is defined as having a set of logical reasons behind doing an action, which a dog would not have.

What I don't understand is why the petition bothers you. For someone who makes a statement implying that they are more intelligent than 1.8 billion 'dogs', you do not seem to be making much sense.

It wasn't supposed to be an exact like for like comparison. I thought it was clearly explicit on my wording and tone it wasn't supposed to be a like for like comparison. It was a way for you visualise what I meant and how I take these complaints.

If you think me giving my opinion on a forum on the Internet is being 'bothered', you'd be wrong. I didn't say all Muslims. I said the ones who complain.

You expect Muslims to stay quite when their religion is insulted?

But this is just getting ridiculous. The rest of the world cannot constantly give in to such over sensitive child like behaviour.

I'll say that the people who design the sets are so ignorant. The word or alphabet never even existed in Ancient Egypt. I don't think they did this to provoke a reaction. Just stupid.

They have a right to petition if they want. If they're complaining I don't see how it will affect you? I'm sure people start up petitions to ban all sorts of music videos, its not like they're necessarily going to listen to them.

Like when everyone was petitioning to get Bieber out of USA, you know it probably won't do anything but you can't get annoyed at them petitioning about it.

I personally though the petition to get rid of Bieber was childish and pathetic. It shows what Americans are most in tune with.

Sure they have a right to make these petitions, but I'm alter (with a lot of people) to tell them they are being pathetic and childish.

How does the action of what she does to a follower of the religion reflect poorly in the religion itself and as such is disrespectful?
I have seen many videos in which religious symbols are used or religious followers mentioned and they NEVER recieve negative hatred for it, albeit most are Christian videos, including Gackt's music video "Jesus" where the man ends up shooting himself in the mouth at the end of the video.

You never hear about these outbursts when Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, Budists, Paganists (yes, it is also a religion, you don't hear them complaining when killings/ghosts appear on their holy day), Taoists etc...
Why do Muslims DEMAND removal of a video where a man is KILLED, not for wearing a pendant, simply because he displeases a female Pharaoh, this does not associate negative connotations towards the religion at all.

Edit: I'd also like to point out the way you use the word "Now" in front of this post's title has a very subtle islamophobic/racist subtext.

Islam is not a race; and objecting to attempted religious suppression of free speech, while noting a demonstrable pattern of such amongst various Muslims (implied by the "now"), does not constitute a phobia.

Political correctness gone mad.
Also, people seem to try and use one basic human right (the freedom of religion) (which IMO should also been freedom FROM religion) and free speech which allows people to speak freely in public so long as it isn't negatively inciting hatred or violence towards others.

You CAN'T remove this video without removing people's basic human rights (Katy Perry's and the other people who made this video).
I would agree that the scene is offensive. It's distasteful in the same way intentionally having someone wearing a pendant with the Queen's face on it being zapped is also distasteful/offensive. I appreciate the purpose of the video is to cross/transcend social constructs like boundaries but this is one boundary that shouldn't be crossed.
