can anyone remember that last inequality?

It might have been

-4/3 <= x <= 3/2

(I can't remember really).

Damn! I did a blonde one on this question. Did AB^2=36+20.
didnt take into account that AB was not the hypotenuse! argh!

anyone know how many marks that question was?

I'm thinking 3, should get a mark for using pythag
answers I can remember:
16/3 (or 5 and a 1/3rd) for the integration area
5 - 2root3 for the width/surd one
c = 7, d = -13 for the polynomial one
AB = 4 for the circle side tangent thing one
Maximum value = 25 for the polynomial one
x < -1/3 ( inequality might have been the other way round) for 8)a)
didn't find the paper too bad overall, although I think I messed up on the maximum point as I got -7 which is different to a lot of people I knows answer. what did people get for the area under the integration, my answer was 17 1/3 I didn't take away the trapezium though, was very unsure if I was meant to....

yes
it was a 2 before surd
yes no I got 13? 21-8 = d?
yes

What do you guys think the grade boundaries will be?

wasnt the surd one 6- 2root3

It was area under line - area of trapezium :\

Yeah, ignore forgottenapple he's talking about the very last part

It was x < -1/3 (or the inequality the other way round, can't remember)

you did have to change depending on whether you divided by -7 or -21, or whether you moved x to the other side.

As long as you divided by a negative and switched, that's fine.

Thank you soo much:biggrin:
I must have done every past paper about 2/3 times (I never remember the answers when I re-do a paper so I guess you could say I get 'unbiased' marks and I usually got 68+) and today I think I've lost about 10 easy marks due to silly mistakes which is so annoying! :frown:

I wanted to get high marks in C1 to make up for whatever I get in C2 - and if this was the paper for C1, I am absolutely dreading the questions that are gonna come up in C2

wasn't d 13? not -13?

yes

3c+d=8
3(7)+(-13)=8
or
2c-d=27
2(7)-(-13)=27

wasnt the surd one 6- 2root3

i got that! most people seem to have got otherwise

Did anyone else spend a bit of time 1)c)? I'm not sure why but it did knock my confidence a little!

wasn't it like:

(30 - 12root3)/6 = 5 - 2root3

Remind me of the question?

Please tell me I wasn't the only person who didn't even realise that there was a Surd question? 4 marks down the drain straight away..

just realised when i rationlised i got my + and - mixed up would that loose all the marks ?

It was disguised as an area question and I think it was a little mean it wasn't worth more marks than normal, imo shoulda been 5
