Write or Type personal statement?

I'm applying for a university abroad. I printed the application forms out but I was wondering whether it is better to type on the page then print it or print the page first and write on it by hand?
Does it make a difference?

You could always ring the place your applying to and ask if they have a preferance or if indeed you are not allowed to do one of the two. Some places prefer you to hand write to get a better indication of your skills in english.
