Hmm interesting, why does everyone not like short sleeve shirts?

Interesting theory, Long sleeved stuff just doesn't look right on me. I have quite big arms, and it just doesn't seem right.

Long sleeve and then rolling it short looks fine though tbh.

I think you two have put me off ever wearing a short sleeved shirt again, although i quite like the shirt i posted before so i may wear that a few times but wont buy anymore.
Anyone know of where I can get some nice blue chinos? Saw some rather spiffy ones in *gasp* Topman today and I won't lie, they looked great.

Too true!

When I was doing my apprenticeship in the technical department of a company, EVERY SINGLE PERSON was wearing an over-sized, badly colored, short sleeved shirt.
I'm never wearing a short sleeved shirt again...

Also there was this guy, who went it day after day (I've spent over a month there) in a black shirt, it just looked so bad he's put me off black shirts for good too ;P

Black shirts are horrendous and I love when someone famous wears it and bloggers are almost forced to say it looks good even though they know it looks absolutely *******s.

Case in point: http://thefineyounggentleman.com/2011/06/14/a-picture-is-worth-a-thousand-words-monsieur-massimo-cifonelli/

He looks like a poorly put together waiter. If I was his boss in a restaurant I would tell him to fix himself up or be fired.

What in all that is holy is going on with that tie? Seriously... Rear tie part showing, tie clip not done properly, enormous tie knot, tie lighter than shirt, pleated pants when not fat, cuffs too tight to accommodate his watch and also too long (or his elbows are 3/4 down his arms).

They think he's "Sartorially rebellious", I think he's just a pretentious prick who can't dress properly.

It's reassuring to know that even a so-called giant in menswear can get it horrifically wrong sometimes.

Also re: short sleeved shirts, I think they can sometimes be pulled off when worn open with a tee or vest underneath, but it depends on the shirt.
I literally have no idea with regards to fashion or anything and don't usually go for the casual/"trendy" look. I'll just throw something on and as long as it doesn't look offensive I think 'that'll do' (I know I'll probably get 1000s of neg reps for saying that in here ) I know it's probably been done to death too.

I feel I should change a bit for Uni so I don't stand out like the token chav (I'm not but probably dress like one), so am just fishing for opinions, even if everything I link is hideous or whatever...

I'm not particularly bothered about the brand, just a coincidence that they were all relatively cheap so I wouldn't be devastated if they were all a no-no; I have nothing of theirs in any case so I don't mean to look obsessed with the shop/brand. All together it's only about £34 which doesn't seem too bad though.

Any recommendations on other staple items would be welcome, as long as it isn't skinny stuff, and things to completely steer clear of as well.

Cheers...

FYG comes across as a slightly bizarre, slightly clueless sycophant. :s-smilie:

I mean, really...?

I know your not concerned about brand, but anything from Republic is awful especially their cheap tacky SoulCal brand. Everything you've posted there is stuff with absolutely no fashion sense would buy.

You need to start looking for clothing without massive chavvy branding on it like Soulcal, Superdry, Henleys etc do.

Some cheap alternatives would be Uniqlo (good for shirts and Jeans), GAP (good for tshirts, shirts and trousers/chinos) or ASOS own branded clothing.

Do you think light blue (lilac) chinos will go well with anything?
They really fit me well and they didn't have them in any other colors :frown:
