A Day Out in London: Kensington Gardens

What are you doing for the Summer? Do you know of any great exhibitions or places to chill with friends?
Here are some of my favourite spots to explore in south west London over the summer!

Kensington Gardens
One of London’s eight royal parks, Kensington gardens is only a short walk away from the High Street Kensington station and is home to historical monuments and museums like Kensington Palace and the Serpentine Gallery. Aside from its natural beauty, Kensington gardens is filled with history. The gardens were originally a part of Hyde park and initially started as a king’s playground, used in King’s Henry VIIIs time for deer chases. The palace and gardens were later subsequently built up by William III and Mary II, followed by Queen Anne who added the Orangery and Queen Caroline who created the Serpentine Lake and transformed the park into what it is today. The gardens are worth a visit and an ideal location for having a picnic with friends or if you just want to take a leisurely stroll. :h:

Kensington Palace: Crown to Couture Exhibition
In addition to its manicured gardens, Kensington Palace is also having a special fashion exhibition. Drawing similarities to royal court life in the past and red carpet celebrity culture today, the exhibition takes a closer look at the couture ensembles debuted on the red carpet. If you are a fan of the Met Gala and would like to see these couture garments up close, then you should definitely not miss this exhibition. Do note that it is advisable to book your ticket online and use your National Art Pass for a discount!

Serpentine Gallery
Although much smaller compared to Kensington Palace, the gallery consists of two galleries located on either side of the Serpentine Bridge. What’s great about the Serpentine Gallery is that it is FREE :colondollar: and open to all! With seasonal special exhibits that are always changing, the Serpentine Gallery is sure to offer something new each time you visit!

Some other honourable mentions within the area would be the Japan House London, located along Kensington High Street and the Victoria and Albert Museum, just a short walk south of Kensington Gardens.
