You should be on main roads within the next lesson or two.
On my first lesson. He drove me about 3 miles out to a nearby town, talked to me for about 20 minutes about the basics then told me to drive home. I thought he ws joking at first as it was the first time I'd been behind the wheel, never been so scared in my life!
On my first lesson I drove across a main road, but I had done some previous practice with my Dad on an airfield before I had my provisional licence.

I think I drove on quite a busy road after 4 lessons, each an hour long.

3rd lesson I wuz driving in busy roadfs
1st lesson: i was driving 30mph on a road with a lot of traffic as it was at rush hour, forwards parking2nd lesson: 40mph on busy roads and small rounabouts, reverse parking3rd lesson: 40mph and bigger spiral roundabouts, reverse parking4th lesson: parallel parking, large roundabouts, reverse parking, dual carriageway

I want to start learning soon and be able to drive in a year.

I’m 24 and I cannot drive at all. I can safely operate a mobility scooter however.
