So
evaluate the view that class differences in both subject choice and educational achievement are mainly the result of the influence of wider society

Im sure you meant gender differences instead of class differences but basically you have to write about things like why girls choose diff subjects so they do that because othe way they have been socialised and the way boys have too.
Peer pressure and all of that
Whn talking about these it's good to evaluate it as you go along
Knowledge is what you know so youre applyig your knowledge to it so e.g. Males choose maths and sciences because it is traditional
Or even if you mention references thats knowledge
It is not easy to write a sociology paper. Finding a topic that is sufficiently interesting can be the first difficulty. Try to think in a critical manner when deciding what to write about. The prompt or question in a sociology assignment usually concerns the interaction of individuals within a particular society. Essays of this type tend to look at the way certain events affect a society and the behavior of people within it. It is important that such an essay consider a number of people or groups. Try to find sociology essay topics you are interested in because writing is much easier when you feel passionate about the subject matter.

im pretty new to this so if someone could PLEASE help me and get me an answer to this i swear i'd appreciate it, ive no idea how to deal with the following question : 'Explain and assess the view that posts-feminists provide the most plausible explanation in terms of gender inequality within families' could someone please please please answer this? AS Level Sociology and currently dying as ive 5 hours to go and im not sure how i'll face my teacher. HELP. thank you!

Who are "posts-feminists"? Never heard of that term of group of sociological thought before. I could only answer this based on normal feminism
Does an intersectional approach help or hinder the sociological study of selves and identities?

Writing an essay, need help in how to structure this question

Hey everyone, I recently got awarded an A (5 marks off an A*!) in my Sociology A-level, and I know that at times it can be difficult, confusing, and people don't really know where the hell to start in their revision!

I took Families and Households, Education, Beliefs in Society and Crime and Deviance, along with the research and theory involved! If anybody has any questions, do not hesitate to ask as I really enjoyed the course and would be happy to help x

Hi Rachel and everyone out there....
I will be taking Sociology A-Level as a private candidate........
Does anyone know of any recommended reading I could do over the summer... other than the text book....?
Ill be doing the Cambridge syllabus

Thanks!

Hi!
I am currently in Year 12 and I’ve just finished a mock period. I managed to get a C overall in both papers. I am currently doing Families and Households, Education. and the Research Methods section. I was just wondering, what the topics for the AQA section are next year and what kind of things I will learn? Like is there a lot more about perspectives ie Feminism etc? Or is it completely different? Thankyou! xx

Hi

It will depend on what your school has decided to choose. The current AQA options are: Beliefs in Society, Global Development, Media or Stratification and Differentiation.

As well as this choice, you will also study Crime and Deviance as a compulsory topic. You will also carry on looking at research methods, with a theory based element. E.g. Sociology as a science etc.

feminism perhaps?
I'd say:
- Feminism and how this theory out dated due to a change in status/attitudes towards women (Sue Sharpe's study of changing priorities of women)
- You could also talk about Willmott and Young, and how the symmetrical family is now more common; so women are no longer carrying out their stereotypical gender roles so the warm bath theory can no longer be applied to families
- increase in family diversity and how there are other family types; cohabitation, same-sex - meaning that the warm bath theory cannot apply to every type of family

Hii does anyone have a question plan showing how how to structure the question and the different sub topics I could use for: A theory and methods 20 mark question on marxism, social action theories and functionalism.
Hey guys looking for some help! quite stuck.

I'm currently writing an essay in regards to poverty. The topic i have chosen to focus on specifically is gender difference and poverty. I need a minimum of two perspectives, one of which I am applying feminism to. However, i am struggling with my second perspective- either marxism, functionalism or new right. Any suggestions please?
hey hey guys!

Just a quick question about the structure of 'evaluate' essays? I know in the mark scheme there isn't a specific way to answer questions, but is there a way that's better? I usually do one big paragraph for all of my agree points, and then one big paragraph for all of my disagree points, while also evaluating throughout. I know it's a bit late seeing as one exam has already been done. But better late than never!
