The D of E Silver

Hey,

I know the Gold would obviously be a better D of E to get but I was wondering if getting the Silver would still help look good on my ucas and university application?

Thanks

Yes ofcourse it would.

I'd wait till you're 16 and just take the DoE Gold Award. You have to do 18 months rather then the standard 12, but at least you can skip the bells and whistles of Silver.

You don't even really have to qualify what "grade" you are (for want of a better word). I'm sure it'd be okay to say something along the lines of "I like to relax by going on long walks, and am an active member of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. This has helped me to develop my confidence and my ability to work well with others". You'll want to to reflect in a more sophisticated way, but I'm sure it'll be fine to phrase it like that, rather than explicitly saying you have a Silver Award.
Anything that shows commitment, teamwork and interpersonal skills is very good
