Been a while since last update. The night after the deadlift session, I had a night out and woke up the next morning with an extremely restricted range of motion in my lower back. Must have done something stupid but can't remember what. Anyway, I rested it for a couple weeks but have also been pretty ill the last ~10 days. On the mend now at least, have managed to squeeze in a few sessions.

Bench (1+): 105kgx4
Assistance

OHP (1+): 75kg x 4

Random session today to test lower back and get back into things:

Bench 100kgx7
Squat (1+): 162.5kgx1. Mostly felt fine on back but technically felt awkward having not squatted for ~3 weeks.
Planks: BWx60s, 20kg x60s, 60s

Unlikely to be lifting again until at least the 27th, hopefully back will be fully healed by then and I can start the next 5/3/1 cycle.

what's your best ever bench press?

107.5x5 / 125x1 @ BW of 91-92

Got couple of sessions in since the 27th, these have been ok but not great. Been tired as I've been trying to sort out my fcuked up sleep pattern. Back seems to be nearly fully recovered, wasn't getting any significant pain during squats.

Press(5+): 70x7
CGBP
Light Rows

Squats (5+) 150kg x 6. My cardio is abysmal and really letting me down by causing blackouts on these (srs). Need to sort that out. Technique in general always goes down the toilet when I don't squat for a while.
Paused Squats: 110kg 3x5

Decent bench a couple days ago:

Bench (5+): 100kgx8 - might be a PB, definitely my best at this bodyweight.

CGBP: 85kg 3x8

Chins: BW 2x8

Face pulls

Really need to do more upper back stuff.

Took it easy today and did the minimum, but back felt fine so will step it up next time.

Dead (5+): 170kgx5 - don't think my technique was good, need to work on setup as it's been a while.

RDL: 60kg 3x5 - low volume in a futile attempt to avoid crippling DOMS.

Planks: 20kg 3x60s

My mate brought some Jack3d to the gym today, first time I'd ever used it. The memes are true...

Press (3+): 72.5kgx7 PB. Had never hit more than 5 on this but was due some progress.

CGBP: 87.5kg x 8,8,8

Pendlay Rows: 70kgx5
80kgx5
90kgx5 (not strict)

Face pulls

Squat (3+) 157.5kgx5

Paused squat: 115kg 3x5

Planks: 20kg 3 x 65s

Good.

Another good workout, might be able to get some progress if I string a few more of these together:

Bench (3+): 105kgx6 (PB). Last rep was very far from being paused but still happy with this.

CGBP: 87.5kg x 8,7,7

Pull ups: BW x 13,7,6 lol

Happy with weight shifted on the DL but technique a bit rubbish. Video actually coming this time.

Deadlift (3+): 180kgx6 (PB)

RDL: 60kg 3x6

ss with

Planks: 20kg x 60s, 25kg x 60s,60s

It's hard to tell exactly what is going wrong from this camera angle but I don't think I'm pulling back enough. I also seem to get noticeably worse as the set goes on.

Any comments / tips appreciated.

Press (1+): 77.5kg x 4 (PB). Last rep very grindy.

CBGP: 90kg x 8,7,6

Pulls up: BW 3x8
Reply 393
Squat (1+): 167.5kg x 3 (PB). A couple of viewers thought that my descent was too slow and made my speed out the hole much worse than it should have been.

Paused squat: 115kg 3x5

Lazy session, need to do better from now on.

Bench (1+): 110kg x 4 (PB). Last rep was probably the slowest bench rep I've ever completed.

CGBP: 90kg x 8,7,7.

Pendlay Rows: 80kg 2x5 90kgx5

Face pulls
Nice Squat last session and nice Bench this session.

What were the old rep PBs at these weights?

Squatted I think 160x3 or 162.5x3.

Benched 110x3 but at a heavier BW (currently ~87).

Went to trials for uni powerlifting today which went ok but not sure I will make the cut. Hit some PBs at least:

Squat: 190x1, 195xF - fudged my descent on the 195 but happy to get 190.

If I compete in ~6 weeks time then I'd like to hit at least a 520 total at 87 bodyweight.

Bench: just did technique work as my technique is not very good for PL. Should have 120 paused though.

Deadlift: 210x1 - not grindy and technically pretty solid (I'm told), no video though.

If I compete in ~6 weeks time then I'd like to hit a 520 total at 87 BW.

Would you not try and hit 83kg weightclass?

But nice numbers! Dat 190kg Squat. Beastly...

They run the competition on Wilks Points. After cutting water etc. though I should weigh a few kg less if I do it right.

Didn't make the cut for the competition team, at least that means I can carry on with 5/3/1.

Had a couple of mediocre sessions. I'm feeling a bit beat up and haven't been sleeping as much as I should. Might need a few days off soon.

Press (5+): 72.5kgx5F
CGBP: 90kg x 7,8,8,7F
Pull ups: BW 2x10

Squat (5+): 155kgx5 - hard and technique not good.
Paused squats: 115kg x 5,5,7
Planks: 3 sets of 25kg
