Grade boundaries are going to be low, last question and classes seem like bloodbaths.

its ridicolous they give you 5 marks in total for simplex and it takes you more than 5 minutes to work the whole thing out i think people should start complaining because they dont give us enough time for d1 1hr 30min is tooo short it should be at least 1 hr 45 or at the most 2 hours then people wouldnt make silly errors

I personally find D1 the second quickest unit out of the ones I'm doing, the only quicker one being C1. Today's one was just exceptionally time-consuming, challenging to finish in the time limit but by no means impossible.

I fully agree with the fact that the D1 Module is there for people who can't do C1 and C2, and it gives them an opportunity to boost their grade. Utter rubbish that someone who gets an A in C1 and C2 has all their hard work put down the drain by this unit, which doesn't involve any real maths at all. Fuming

D1 is not a pure maths module it takes a lot of time for you to think about the question because they add all the useless wording in it to try throw people off,, all the other modules including second year ones i finish with 10min to go then i have time to check but in d1 by the time im on the last question there's 3-5min left :s-smilie: :s-smilie:

hahaha i couldnt agree moreee i wish my college did s1 instead of d1 so in the 1st year u do c1 c2 and s1 instead that will be 10000000000x better than doing the easiest d1 paper there is! haha
Generally people in my school (which specialises in maths) manage to finish D1 within an hour. Having said that, we do have a couple of amazing teachers that cover this unit, S1 and FP1 at AS, which is probably why we find it easier in general. Even with that teaching though, today's paper was very... difficult to interpret at times. However, just because it isn't pure maths doesn't mean it should take any longer. I think the teaching of it is just weaker in general though because it's not exactly the funnest module to teach, so less people specialise in it.

It just wasn't enough time at all. That simplex took me at least 10 minutes, closer to 15!

d1 is taught badly at my college the teachers just assume u understand it and it is rushed its just one of those modules u need to make sure everyone understands before going any further

Very true, and unfortunately, unlike pretty much every other module, it can't be condensed any more than it already is when its taught. My school has 3 hour revision sessions for each module a few weeks before the exam, but you can't condense D1 into that amount of time. I'm just relieved I managed to finish the paper today, I was so worried when an hour had gone by and I was still midway through simplex :s

i did not finish the only question i did not do was 2iii and thatwas 6 marks all together so i already got -6 marks :s-smilie: luckily i did everything else and i did 6 as well the only stupid thing for 6i and 6ii was i did not put in the values for A, B and C into the algorithim i just left it as letters so for example my answer was like -1 + A + B + C, hopefully i lose just one mark not for subbing in the values but i did the other parts of the algorithim right

What was 2iii again?
And yeah, I think you'll get all the B and M marks, maybe drop 1 or possibly 2 A marks, that's all
