Re: The Standard Grade History ThreadOh right yeah I know that.(Original post by nerd434)
You do three sections depending on what you studied.
Your grade is made up of Knowledge and Understanding and Enquiry Skills. The essay is KU and all the others questions are ES.
I think the total KU is out of 24, I'm not sure about ES just yet..
Im pretty sure theres not an 8 marker essay in every unit for you to do, it would be impossible to complete in time. -
Re: The Standard Grade History Thread
I think you are getting a little bit mixed up.
There are 3 units relevant to what you study. In each of these units there as a total of 8 marks for KU. In 2 of the 3 units you are asked two four mark questions were you use recalled knowledge to write a short one paragraph answer.
In the remaining unit there is a question which is worth eight marks alone that you must write in essay format with an introduction and conclusion using paragraphs. -
Re: The Standard Grade History ThreadNo- you only have to do 1 eight marker in a credit paper.(Original post by nerd434)
There's an 8 mark essay for every Unit, not just one Unit..

Re: The Standard Grade History ThreadYes but each section has a total of 8 marks for KU, that's what I meant. Some of them also have a choice between two topics for the 8 mark essay.(Original post by 123meow_ish)

Re: The Standard Grade History ThreadAlthough, if there are two topics, most of the time you have to write about both of them, as it will ask you how important one of them was, and you need to take into account other answers to the question!(Original post by nerd434)

Hi guys! For people doing Germany 1918-39, are you revising Hitler's four year economic plans?
I'm so gonna pass...

Hope it aint russia. Thatd be a nightmare for me.(Original post by andrew_don)
My Teacher reckons that the 8 mark essay will be in Germany 1918-1939 - if the SQA follow the pattern she has recognised throughout the papers.
Disclaimer - I deny responsibility if the 8 marker is not indeed in the German, or respectively, Russian section

Re: The Standard Grade History ThreadWell I just hope it's not in the British topic. 1880s to the Present Day is far too mind-numbingly dull to be able to write a good 8 mark essay on.(Original post by andrew_don)

Re: The Standard Grade History ThreadYou could at least get the 2 marks for structure, though and I'm sure with a bit of knowledge you could get a few more marks. Having the eight-marker there might actually be beneficial if you feel it's your weakest syllabus area(Original post by Aay)

Re: The Standard Grade History ThreadI am doing Germany 1989-1939 and I have to say I haven't even looked at Hitler's four year economic plans. Been much more focused on reasons for fall of Weimar Republic and the effects Treaty of Versailles and the influence on young people.(Original post by ladymarshmallow)

Re: The Standard Grade History Thread
I think that was a solid exam, actually. I especially liked the 8 marker in Germany as it was along the lines of what I had prepared for.
I just hope my exam marker is good at reading almost illegible writing - because by 2.40 I was pretty much writing in Arabic

I'm so gonna pass...
