Doesn't your teacher make a marking scheme? :holmes:

Also, since you just had this thread do it for you; you can go ahead and prove the derivative of tanx for us. Dead easy, and you might even get it in a past paper.

My 8b had way more steps in it than yours!

Completely unnecessary steps!

Well, showing her why the second derivative formula is true was quite useful.

BUT STILL. Go back to your corner. :hand:

I like to imagine you glaring at ukd muttering to yourself "I went to Cambridge, too...and I didn't even taint my course with these dirty applications!"

Every time I do this I have to prove it*, as I just don't trust my memory enough.

*ok, only a quick check in my head.

Again, what I always did, because I was too lazy to memorise the formula!

Pah, I'm going to go do more general insurance. Surprisingly fun...
just to add I hope you realise I only did this cause you're hot

It is pretty easy.

You'll never make it as a doctor with handwriting as neat as that. Illegibility needs improvement.

It was pretty easy. Have you done implicit differentiation yet?

Now no quotient rule!

I'm pretty sure there are ways to use a graphics tablet and have it convert handwritten stuff automatically.

Actually that sounds like the best thing ever, I should look into it.

Just wondering do all Cantabrigian mathematicians hate the quotient rule? I read something like that in Siklos' booklet too

A dude in my lectures used to type them up, in real time. It was so impressive.
But yes, there's stuff similar to that at least I think.

Possibly just all lazy mathematicians:p: Though off the top of my head, I don't think I can remember any mathmo who liked it...

Exceedingly cool but I'm imagining the pain involved in getting to that point already.

There should be a better keyboard layout for LaTeX than qwerty, that's part of what makes it so bothersome.

I think he knew pretty much all of the first 2-3 years when he turned up, so probably needed something to fill the time:p:

GMC will chase after me because of my handwriting!
Yep I have. If there's any questions on it, I can probably only answer them on Thursday as I need to volunteer and I have big piece of chemistry h/w + timed English essay that I need to prepare for.

For smaller tasks I can LaTeX at reasonable speed (but not quite real-time), after having done all of my exercise sheets this year in it.

For larger tasks I use MathType, which converts to LaTeX and I just have to edit it for style

The quotient rule is bad! Mostly because you have to remember something, but also partly because I'm a big fan of using the simplest tools you can.

Wow.
Edit-also, mathtype costs money! I'm only a poor(ish) student(ish)!:p:

I solved the solution I posed yesterday to you.

I did 9 pages of working out - my teacher gave me five pounds after looking at my solution.

you solved that without Euler's/ De Moivre's? :eek4:

You are hardcore, I admire your indefatigable perseverance :colondollar:
Haha, £5 well deserved
