The Student Room Group

Cambridge University and Cambridge Anglia Ruskin

Hello,

I am a Cambridge Anglia Ruskin applicant for September 2012 to study History BA Hons and I have come up with this idea of perhaps creating a better connection and social life between the two University's.

(I mean we are going to be sharing public transport together! lol).

Hopefully this will create a healthy strong link between the Uni's and actually perhaps give oppurtunites for both sides, for example perhaps create study groups and run little tutoring sessions.

I am really interested on your thoughts on this, please leave a comment below!

I was thinking on perhaps creating a friend forum, where applicants from both Uni's can talk and share ideas and perhaps make new friends.
hmm interesting I like the idea but i dont think this is going to work; I mean have you seen the Cambridge memes on facebook. Two universities insulting each other by some people and im going to get negged for this comment but its true

Perhaps this forum should be considered an experiment, if it goes well perhaps it could be taken a step further with the student unions on both sides creating a group (that is a big maybe though). If like you say it goes badly then I will abandon the idea before it gets out of hand.

Thank you for informing me of the issues between the two Uni's though, I should of done more research!

Still I personally would like to speak to a few Cambridge students.

Thanks for your input

I'm a Cambridge University student - and sure, ARU is rather unfairly a scapegoat for Cambridge students, but it doesn't help when the stereotypes are reinforced so perfectly

University's
Uni's
should of done

I mean, come on!
I don't think many people would really feel comfortable making "friends" online. Maybe if more social activities were shared between the two unis... i have only spoken to a handful of ARU students like out and about. I am also pretty sure that some nightclubs don't let ARU students in on student nights (or do they?).

I have noticed that this is a significant problem, hopefully when I go to Uni in september I will be able to fix this problem. This forum was more of an advertisment for the plan.

Thank you for the help

Here are a few things you should know before you embark on this project:

1) Most Cambridge students do NOT want to socialise with Anglia Ruskin students.
2) Most Cambridge students do NOT want to study with Anglia Ruskin students.
3) Most Cambridge students CANNOT benefit from tutoring sessions involving Anglia Ruskin students.

You should also improve your written English before starting your degree because your inability to spell correctly reinforces the Anglia Ruskin stereotype.
