Hi Ayesha, thanks for replying! It's so hard to find people doing or wanting to do Early childhood studies. I am not at university at the moment, I am currently taking a gap year and thinking to go university the following year, still deciding. Not sure I want to go uni now :frown: lol. What university are you planning to go to?

Hi nicky, how are you finding the course? How is the workload?

Those of you planning to do it- don't bother. It's a chocolate teapot degree.

I know a few nursery nurses that did it and it didn't even offer them a promotion in the nurseries they work out- it's worthless on its own. The only door it will open for you is basic childcare jobs- and you might as well go to college and study a NVQ or BTEC for that.

If you want to work with kids and want to do it at university- look into teaching, nursing, social work.

Hi its fine to be honest...in class about average of 10 hrs a wk...but it changed throughout the year...we are doing 3 modules now and 3 after Christmas, and that's first yr done!! It's really interesting and opens up quote a few career options...such as playtherapist, playworker, childrens centre positions, nursery supervisor, higher level teaching assistant or if you choose to do your PGCE you can do either EYPS or Primary Teaching (which is what I'm doing it for)..specialising in key stage 1...I've saw negative things on here about it too...before I started..the degree is only what you make of it..

But Nicky with all due respect- you could of done a qualification at college to do jobs like that- and saved yourself £27,000+

Paying £9,000 a year is a joke in my opinion. This is one of many reasons that I consider to not go as I think it's just a waste of time and money. I know many of you will disagree, but we are all entitled to our opinion. But guys, is there another route to get into teaching?

iammarmite you say I can study a NVQ? Care to explain what a NVQ is and what to do next after studying it?
