I am studying edexcel psychology and I wanted to know if there are any books which provide more detail on the studies and theories
Also any recommendations of books that have been used by past AS psychology students

Thank you for the help
What do you study at as Level? I don't know edexcell...
I'm an Edexcel psychology student and I use these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=edexcel+psychology+student+unit+guide (And they give us these in lesson.) If you're in doubt as to whether they're useful, I'm in the year 13 exams I got a B and an A* and for Unit 1, the one you're doing now I've got 100% an all internal assessments.

I'm not saying that this is exclusively due to this book. It takes a lot of hard, independent work to get these grades.

Some of the best resources to use are past exam mark schemes - text books can be 'waffly' and not get straight to the point, but mark schemes are direct and tell you what you need to know.

In my experience (and I'm a year 14 student) reading the same work from several resources is the best way to fully understand the work.

Bare in mind that there are also free online resources for you to use e.g. http://aspsychology101.wordpress.com/

Unit 1: Cognitive and Social Psychology
Unit 2: Biological, Psychodynamic and Learning Psychology
Unit 3: 2 of: Health, Sport, Child and Criminal Psychology
Unit 4: Issues and Debates (Mental health, problems with diagnosis etc. and debated in psychology i.e. problems with ethnocentrism, is psychology a science etc. and you use everything you've learned to argue both sides of these debates. As well there's research methods and contributions to society.
