Cunningly I left the "to" field blank so it will have to be a conscious choice.

Ah, clever! I should remember to do that in future :teehee:
I have to do it in person, and I work for a small place where it will be taken quite personally :frown:

So I'm really scared of having the conversation!

I'd have to do an in person bit too - we are required to discuss it and then also to attend an "exit interview" ... but we are required to tender our actual resignation in writing.

They can't expect you to stay there forever if better things are available elsewhere - they will have to live with it.

That does sound quite scary. But you can't miss a great opportunity, which it sounds like this new job is?

Hopefully even if they take it personally at first, they will understand in the long run and wish you well.

Brave smiley: :horse:
I hated handing in my notice to my last job, as I loved where I was working, but I left to take the next step in my career so it was necessary. It'll be hard, but you'll be glad that you did it
They'll probably be a lot more understanding and supportive than you think - my old boss was!

Any clever thread titles?

If there is a prize a mod will *always* win it.
Maybe they haven't noticed yet...
It usually takes a little while for it to be closed... Who's going to start the new one?
