I feel touched!
Is the lockout soft in your snatch grip pulls because of your grip, or something else?

Yeah it's pretty much because of grip but also because idk what proper form is. The bar path is a bit weird because you have to start with your knees way over the bar in contrast to normal deadlifting where the goal is almost the opposite.
Monday:

Squat w/belt:

192.5*3 @ 8.5 (PB)
192.5*3 @ 9

e1rm = 221

0.5 Inch Deficit Deadlift:

230*1 @ 8.5
230*1 @ 9

e1rm = 249

Side Bends:

45*2*8

Not bad day. Set a PR and technically done more on my squat than I have before (190*2*3) so maybe get some gains from that. Video also suggests that I maybe have overestimated RPE as the third rep was still pretty fast.

First deficit dead was really good too as it felt quite smooth and not as much back rounding.

Only bad thing is that over the past week my left hamstring has been feeling pretty tight and it's kind of putting me off.

Tuesday:

CG Bench Press:

105*2*4

Paused Oly Squat:

135*4

Paused Front Squat:

90*4

CG Floor Press:

95*2*3

Alright day I guess. Think I went too heavy on the floor presses though. Also like last week with snatch grip deads I decided to just do one set then start work on my new exercise. Somehow my front squats have improved. Might beat my all time record of 92.5*5 back when I was back squatting 117.5*5 xD

Feels when you pretty much snatch grip DL my max.

Whats with the 90kg Pausie Fronties? Don't FS much or is is a flexibility thing?

I front squatted for a bit when I started getting into strength training then stopped doing them for ages. Briefly did them for a few weeks some months back as part of my supplemental squat exercise but I stopped because they were giving me problems with my right quad.

So in short I don't FS much and I'm doing them paused because I think it'll help prevent injury.

Also because I have ridiculously long femurs it's hard for me to do them properly as to remain upright my ankle flexibility needs to be really good.
There will almost always be better things you can do than front squat to improve lb sq.

Not really sure what else to program for my 'supplemental squat' variation. a SSB would be nice if I had one.

Mike does use the front squat in his general intermediate program. Didn't say in the avatar whether it was for a lb or hb squatter.

Thursday:

Deadlift w/belt:

200*1
220*4 @ 7.5
212.5*4 @ 7.5
205*2*4 @ 7

e1rm = 268

Squat w/belt and wraps:

172.5*1
185*2 @ 8
180*2 @ 8
172.5*2*2 @ 7
172.5*2 @ 7.5

e1rm = 210

SLDL:

155*4*5

First high stress session. Not a bad day although I have learned that when doing load drops I should cut my rest times by a minute or 90 seconds I think. Not fatiguing fast enough and taking way too long.

Deadlifting felt pretty good. Form looked and felt pretty good today although I think I should've spent a bit more effort setting up. My belt was moving around a bit during the sets. Might've done 220*4 @ 7 which would be a strength increase.

Squats weren't that great tbh due to quite a few reasons which I cba to list. Left knee hurt a bit when I did 185kg.

SLDLs felt pretty easy but I think I'll either change my form to try make it a little less straight legged or do them from blocks. Low back didn't really feel that right after doing them as my flexibility isn't that great.

Anyway, hopefully in a couple weeks time I might start seeing gains from this.

Friday:

CG Ply Press:

112.5*2 @ 7
112.5*2*2 @ 7.5

e1rm = 131

Side Bends:

47.5*2*8

Push Press:

77.5*2*4

Wow I'm actually really happy today. It's like the first day in weeks where I have no soreness or stiff tendons and I've gone and got e1rms close to my best before my overreaching/injury thingamagig stuff. Guess switching to just close grip stuff was a good idea just a shame I didn't try it sooner. Think my best CG bench e1rm was 132.5 and today I did a CG ply press (basically like a normal bench press but 1cm less ROM) and got 131. Might actually make gains over the next few weeks :biggrin:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3s9rp-do7tc lawl I love Mike here. Everyone is like 'oh yeah carries for squats, overhead pressing for bench, good mornings etc etc then every round Mike just says 'Paused Bench, Paused Squats, Paused Deadlifts'.

Kind of interesting video as I have noticed the same thing where I don't seem to feel anywhere near as fatigued from CG benching.
Monday:

Squat w/belt:

175*1
182.5*3 @ 8
175*3 @ 8.5
170*3 @ 7.5
170*3 @ 8

e1rm = 213

Pause Deadlift at knee:

180*1
195*4 @ 8.5
182.5*4 @ 8.5

e1rm = 231

Pause Front Squat:

90*3*4

Probably the toughest session I've done. Felt a bit fatigued and my stomach felt funny so it was hard to get tight.

Nice low stress week next week though.

Was that a car alarm at the start of the video or part of the song?

I think although I'm not sure it's what people like to call 'music'. Very avant garde use of bleeps and bloops :colone:

The gym must be a hard environment for you, knowing your taste in music :tongue:

Thursday:

Deadlift w/belt:

237.5*2 @ 7.5
230*2 @ 7
230*2 @ 7/7.5

e1rm = 273

Squat w/belt and wraps:

175*4 @ 8
170*4 @ 8

e1rm = 210

SLDL:

160*2*5

Awesome day! 5kg e1rm increase on Deads; breaking 600lb. Thought I would have to wait until next week to see gains as I'm not meant to be recovered but I had an awesome deadlift session however. Might see more next week if moving back to Uni the day before doesn't impact it too much :smile:

Reps were very clean as well. Not really any back rounding or struggling to lockout. Much better than when I did 240*2 beltless a few months back.

Right side of right knee felt funny today for some reason even before I went to gym.

Pretty damn good day today as well. Warming up on bench wasn't too great as it felt a bit tiring and slow but the top set turned out pretty good. Might actually equal my normal grip bench in a few weeks with a close grip.

Btw what do you guys think of my grip width on the bench in the past couple upper day vids? It looks kind of 'medium grip' when I first look at it but it's about as close as I can get without my shoulders internally rotating so much that I can't really lockout properly. Can kind of see that at the lockout position as my arms are near vertical.
