I've got my acknowledgement mail, too!
I'm a (soon-to-be) graduate applicant from Europe

for all those wondering about UKCAT cut-off - Glasgow look at the total score not the average as such.

Last 3 years average scores that got invited for interview were as follows:

2011: 652.5
2012: 640
2013: 672.5 (not 675 that some have quoted here)

2012 was an anomaly year and probably due to the huge rise in fees meaning less applicants.

I hope the cut off doesn't rise by more than 20 otherwise I have just wasted a choice

Yeah, normally of 2 specialists/doctors or a doctor and a member of the admissions team.
my interview was composed of 2 clinicians not part of academic/sdmissions team and was in February.

Also, my year of entry (2011) was the last year where 800 interviews were done. now, much reduced and thankfully so as our year is huge.

the bigger the year, the bigger the foundation applications and the bigger problem of no jobs due to oversubscription.

Does anyone know how the interviews are conducted? Are they MMI or traditional, how long they last?
I looked on their website but it didn't really answer those questions.
Also does anyone know how much actual knowledge you would need. Will you need to be able to speak about research that has been done recently or know any specific ethical topics?

The interviews are traditional, last about 15 minutes and are conducted by 2 doctors or a doctor and a member of the admissions team. From what I've heard there are only a few questions due to the tight time allocation and are normally the likes of why medicine, why Glasgow and the types of skills needed to be a doctor. There could be some ethics thrown in there I'd guess but it wouldn't be much.

You should know about a recent medical research/news topic of your choice.I chose the Liverpool care pathway, and they asked me a few general questions about it (really basic stuff, what I knew about it, what my opinion on it was)

They also give you a choice of ethical scenarios (you pick one from four or five) to talk about. I'm sure they tell you not to discuss them afterwards so I think they're reused each year.

In general how long before the interview will you be notified that you have an interview?

I'm pretty sure the first notifications are around early-mid November, probably closer to just mid-November with the rest just throughout November.

I just want November to hurry up so we can figure out what the cut-off is!

I'm thinkin when i've got a couple days off work/ whatevz i'll just get organized and start to prioritise what would be worth talking about in interviews. Than I'll read an up to date interview book to cover all bases whilst keeping up to date on new scientist/ the news/ etc.

Probs do a couple of mock interviews with friends/ family just to make sure any ideas are presented logicically and fluently. atm i'm thinkin i'll do this over the next month or so, but i'm a reapplicant so am expecting to hear back before Christmas really.

I'm not entirely sure either! Do you think if we ask them they would give a response?
