Do GCSE's really make a different

I want to apply for Aerospace engineering in sheffield university and my BTEC grade will most likely be DDD with A level maths at grade B, but my GCSE's are A in Maths and C in Science. The uni requires B in Science and Maths for GCSE, will they reject me straight away after looking at my GCSE grades.

It is likely that they will reject you for not fulfilling the requirement.
Alternatively they may include in their offer their standard Btec offer but also include a B at science gcse. Implying you should retake the exam to bump up the grade. Try get a referee to mention you will be retaking a science exam
