It's fun to see Dutch from "an English perspective!" You sure like those commas!

It's not like I especially like commas!
It helps get away with using various words dat weet ik niet! :cute:

Wat doe jij vandaag?

It's because I missed zee accent in 'Sí' isn't it?

:mmm:
As-tu décidé quelle universitaire à laquelle tu appliqueras?

I know :yep:

Remember 'dat' sends the verb to the end! I'm assuming you used English to start the sentence, and then Dutch to finish!

so it's: ...verschillende woorden die ik niet ken.

I think 'ken' isa better fit, because you're talking about "familiarity" here, rather than "factual knowledge"

Moi?! Jamais!

Aaaah oui, il fait beau ici

Oui. Cambridge, Imperial, Bath, Warwick, Cardiff... Mais ils peuvent changer!

3rd March? Great birthday

¿Estás aquí? When I say here I mean Britain:tongue:
After my GCSE exams in May and June I will have 3 months before sixth form starts, so I will have a lot of free time. Can anyone recommend any tools for learning Spanish, please? At the moment I have Spanish with Ease by Assimil but would appreciate if anyone could give me a list of some other useful material.

Thanks!

About.com is probably pretty good. I have this textbook called 'A Spanish learning grammar'

Thankyou! Also, I am not too sure if this has been asked in this thread, but how do you go about obtaining vocabulary and making it part of your active vocabulary?

The way I do it, just translate in your head from English to Spanish, if you don't know the word, look it up!

It's such a cool language! I did a foundation course when I was on exchange in Singapore but the teacher didn't teach much grammar so I found it a bit frustrating. And my girlfriend and I are going to Morocco in April so seems like a good time to find the enthusiasm again!

I found this website, which seems pretty good though

http://www.madinaharabic.com/start_learning.html

Which languages are you aiming to be a polyglot in then?

It is! woaaaah, exchange in Singapore haha

I've seen that website but I didn't get into it

French, Spanish, Italian, German, Arabic, Mandarin, Japanese, Russian and English before I grow old.

Before uni though, just the first 4  German will be my issue

You?

Ah I'd like to know German, Arabic, Russian, Spanish, Hindi/Urdu, maybe Portuguese.
Do you self teach too? I must admit that I despised languages at school! Despite my aunt being French and being a French teacher!

I don't understand why you want to learn Mandarin. Personally, I find it to be a really ugly language. And inefficient. Maybe that's just what living in Singapore did to me... I also hate rice now something awful

Why's German "the issue"? Tip: Get a German boyfriend/girlfriend. It helps a lot! I spent Xmas at my girlfriend's family in Germany
