hells yeah it really is everywhere
haha i love history.. not sure i love being tested on it though! the coursework is so painful hahaha
oooooo that sounds really really interesting!
i know this may be a little odd but Im so hoping i get called for jury during my life haha it would be so awesome- and if i learn about this i can be all intelligent faced and pondering the psychological meaning behind it all hahaha

Hahaha if only education was "ok study this if you enjoy it...there isn't an exam on it"

Again I agree with you, jury duty would be so damn interesting. Imagine having a say on whether someone went to prison or not  I would most likely screw it up haha

Well I feel awkward jumping in the middle of conversations haha :3 But hey I'm Chloe. I've firmed Bangor for psychology in my mind buuut yet to officially do it through UCAS (I'm scared once I make it all official I'll go changing my mind, so I'm keeping it this way for a week or so to be sure :P) I'm about 5 hours away currently which feels like a long way away but I like that. I wouldn't like being just half an hour or something away.
I didn't actually go to any open days (bad I know!) but it look absolutely stunning from the online stalking I've done of it :3
What made you guys all choose to apply here? I'm curious to know  x

Yeah bangor is small haha it isn't what i had originally pictured as my dream uni, but having seen a lot of different types (city, city campus etc) it was an easy choice hahah yeah i saw snow too!! on the other open day i went to i even saw wild ponies on the side of one of the many hilly things surrounding bangor
yeah generally i don't do well with sports hahah but I'm definitely going to be giving some ago that i haven't tried before (like water ones- always fancied myself a bit of a captain XD haha captain shannon, liking it already)
it certainly isn't as easy getting everywhere compared too where i live right now :P as i live near london and very very near an airport haha ireland however, I've only been to once and loved it so much, hopefully if I'm not entirely skint i'll be able to afford a little trip to ireland at uni since it really is easy to get to from bangor
I'm from hertfordshire, but i wasnt born there; my entire non-direct family is from kent, but i was born in washington dc, moved to holland and i only lived in England for the first time in 2007 haha so I'm looking forward to being able to add another country to my 'lived in list' haha

yeah those topics in psychology seem really really interesting! I'm not really sure of my favourite- from my a level i really like developmental psychology- but then again anything with babies and the elderly is generally awesome hahaha and yes bangor seems to have such a huge range of specialists its amazing!

Okay so any fear I had about changing my mind is now impossible. Doesn't get better than wild ponies on hills.

I'm not even being sarcastic. :L

Haha, yeah mine was orginally meant to be in a bigger city than where I live right now so it turned out to be the opposite of what I was going for, but I like the compactness! :P
Haha, I'm actually new to quite a few outdoor/water sports so I guess that's why I want to try them as well ^_^
Oh wow, that's a really cool history, I mean, the only way I'm connected to other countries is by my ancestors being Turkish (hence my last name is not British and actually shortened from a longer name), I've never lived in another country! :/ but intend to travel whenever it's possible  (the international experience schemes appeal to me a lot!)

Ooh I've not looked into the international experience schemes... I must do that right this moment! I've traveled A LOT in my life - even lived in Cyprus and Germany for a few years each. So this makes me happy :3 I don't know I didn't know about this!

It's fine, the more people start talking here, the better  well to get some perspective, I'm probably about 9 hours away haha (that's taking the train as well...) so you're closer than I am! Well, I can't say you didn't miss out by not going on the open day, as it would have showed you how awesome the place is ;D because it really is lovely, has a nice campus, you can easily get to all parts, the main building is a beautiful castle building which inside looks seriously well kept for a building that old haha. I chose it mainly because after the open day, I was so impressed by it. But beforehand, when I applied for an offer, I chose it because it was ranked quite high on graduate prospects and especially research and student satisfation, yet it was not ranked that high for entry. I wondered if that was because it wasn't a very nice place to be but that was proven wrong when I visited . I know it has a great reputation and good links to other countries so I'm happy to say its a firm for me. (plus it's cheap and safe to live there - always a bonus!)

Hi Chloe  no need to feel awkward! The more the better! yeah haha i like the idea of being far away for uni haha it is stunning  i chose it because its really good for psychology (between 51-71 in the WORLD rankings for psychology), the lecturers were really interesting and the few i talked to on the applicant day were very approachable.. and also because everyone is just so so nice there

Woah that is a long long way to come! I see your originally from Southampton? Technically my football rival city  I'm originally from Portsmouth haha. Awh darn well I can tell that it's a lovely place which is a contrast to a lot of other universities in the UK which look all run down and not so nice. Mm you chose it pretty much the same reasons as me - it's supposed to be real good for the subject and it was the highest ranked for psychology out of all my offers. Most importantly I could just imagine myself being there.

Well my Dad earns quite a lots so my loan wont be much over the minimum which sucks as my parents aren't going to help me out much financially (luckily I have 4 grand saved up so far!) So I'm probably going to go with whatever is cheap and cheerful! I'd really like an en-suit though so gah I don't know :3 I'm only expecting to be in halls the first year for the experience, practicality (can't be travelling back and fourth to view rooms to rent in student houses) and whatnot but the second/third year I hope to live cheaper in a house share. So I may be able to justify the extra expense as halls are more pricey anyhow, may as well make my life a little nicer when it's just the first year.

Oh my really in the WORLD? :O I only looked at it's place in the UK. That is mighty impressive :3 Did you get that plastic folder thing with the whole "Think psychology bangor" with the other leaflets? I liked i got sent that - none of the others bothered with anything similar. It really showcased the department and got me all excited about it :3

hahaha that would be THE best thing to see everyday- imagine giving friends who have cone to visit a tour; "To your left theres Lidl, to your right the train station, oh and yeah over there, its just the dancing ponies, theres the psychology department..."
have you seen pictures of the new build? it looks so cool and is so ,much bigger in real life than i had imagined!

Well that was where I was born and as I lived in a town near the city I can't say I actually know it well at all haha, Plymouth is basically my hometown  and they're sea cities so it's kinda the same haha I also applied to Bournemouth and Portsmouth Universities but I think it'll be nicer to go somewhere North

People actually think I am from another country half the time, but my foreign history is pretty much been filtered out throughout my family haha although you can never claim you are 100% English of course. I don't know where exactly I want to go or if I want to do the study or the work scheme, there's so much choice I'll have to think about it in my first year!

That's the same for me :/ but the problem is that my parents are not helping me out other than giving me some food and essentials at the start of the year haha I don't have any savings either but my grandparents are chipping in for me quite generously so there's some hope for the start of the year in terms of living like a student. I am happy to say though that I am quite frugal with money and love to save as much as I can, so I think I will be able to make it through the 3 years with the loan, but I do think I will get a part-time job in the first year as the degree is counted with that year.

I like the idea of living in the new halls, but at the same time the older ones I think are also quite nice, I quite like old buildings with renovated, modern rooms inside. I'm just not sure haha

Yeah! I believe you can do kayaking which sounds awesome  also I have to try hiking up one of those mountains, just to see the snow on the top and look down over the city!

I'm pretty much the same but never get to go on holidays so I find other ways - school trips and with people I know who are willing to take me/let me stay with them  Wales is technically another country even if it feels the same, so there's a difference in culture there, and Ireland not so far away ^_^

Hmmm... that's a hard question hahah well I've always wanted to go somewhere very cold and snowy and I've always been quite a fan of Scandinavian countries so Sweden or Norway would suit me fine (and they're quite expensive to go to so that would be if money wasn't an issue). I think where I want to go to changes quite a lot because I have a thirst for going anywhere really and it's hard to choose just one place. But there are different reasons for each place I want to go to - e.g Turkey to catch a glimpse of my family's distant past hahaha :P

How about you?

ahh, I like them but I also quite like Elidir (£106 per week and still en-suite) and Seiriol (Not en-suite but still nice) as its cheaper (£71 per week) so they aren't as pricy as the new ones.

I can't choose! haha but I will definitely be applying ASAP when I get the email so I have a month to decide!

Haha love how you causally slipped it in there as if it was on par with lidl. No I haven't but I'll work on correcting that!

True that  Same - Although I've moved to 5 different areas in england it's always been the south. I've never been further north than Suffolk (Except for one time when I went to liverpool for a wedding) I fancy a change.

OliviaBara

Neither do I :3

On the website:
Psychology
Universite de Toulouse II Le Mirail, France
Albert-Ludwigs Universität Freiburg, Germany
Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Universita degli Studi "G. d'Annunzio", Italy (Teaching Exchange Only)
Universita Degli Studi di Parma, Italy
Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, Netherlands
Universiteit Maastricht, Netherlands
Uniwersytet Warszawski, Poland
Universidad de Granada (Facultad de Psicologia), Spain

I want to go to them all! Although I could cross of Germany seeing as I already have had 5 years there... Although that was on a British camp so I didn't get to experience much AND it was lovely so maybe not. Poland would be interesting too. France also would be interesting... they all would! </3 I'll probably end up haivng to pick it out of a hat or something if I did end up doing the scheme.

It sucks, they'd like to but have money tied up with things and my brother at university too they can't give me much financial support. That's why since last august I was working up to 20 hours each week part time to save up I only just left my job now with exams coming up because it was too much getting in the way of revision and I couldn't lessen my hours. I'm hoping to work as much as I can this summer after my exams as well as get some work experience in (I'm hoping to be a clinical psychologist eventually so I need work experience with "Vulnerable" people to get on the postgrad courses)

I really need to think. I don't know what I prefer to be honest haha. I think you chose your top 3 when you apply don't you?
