Defence cuts and staff shortages 'increasing risk of military air accidents'

This is certainly true. If the MoD wants to hire the best engineers, they need to pay the best wages. When you have people working below minimum wage in the Armed Forces - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/defence/10748690/Troops-on-front-line-may-be-earning-less-than-minimum-wage.html then it is no wonder that the best engineers are turning to other industry's to work, rather than the military.

It isn't just the MOD facing this problem.

Pretty sad state of affairs.

More grief whoring about how poorly paid our military are.

I've never had more disposable income than when I was in the army. That's why you're average 18 year old squaddie can afford going out on the lash every night, and must have that HP flat screen and Subaru.

Sadly cuts have has to be made. The telegraph has a never ending load of stories 'off the record' by senior officers more interested in saving their cap badge.
