Edexcel Biology Unit 3 (Issue Report)

Hey guys,
I am doing my coursework on thyroid cancer and I need help in completing one of the requirements.
So, I need to identify at least two implications (ethical, social, economic or environmental) in using surgery as a method to treat thyroid cancer.

A few things to think about:

What do you think the effect on thyroid function that having part of your thyroid chopped out has?
What's the rate of complications like for partial thyroidectomy (chopping a bit out)?
What's the expense like vs. other treatment methods?
Experience of undergoing surgery vs. experience of other treatment methods?
