Heathcliff as a Hero?

So I'm doing an essay (CCEA AS2 June 2011 past paper) that says 'Heathcliff is more anti-hero than hero.' That parts easy, but how would you argue the opposite, that there are some aspects of his character that may be considered heroic?
I know he saves Hareton, but he immediately regrets it, as he would rather see Hindley suffer with grief and guilt. Anyone have any ideas?
