Why are the raw/UMS grade boundaries so high compared to other subjects?

Just out of interest, why is it that the raw to UMS boundaries so high for AS/A2 maths, especially when compared to other subjects like physics or chemistry?

I'm on Edexcel for maths and it seems you virtually need full raw marks (on average, for the past few years) for full UMS, whilst for physics (Edexcel) you could lose over 20 marks, and for chemistry (OCR), I've been told you could lose 10-15 marks for full UMS...
Maybe because it's much easier to get full marks in maths than it is in any other subject?
