AQA A2 French Unit 3 June 19th 2014

Ahh History would be a dream! Geography is the one I really want, though, SO much to talk about for La Provence, the geography has been so influential!

Which is your region? :smile:

Dreading industry or economy, but I'm hoping that since they have a lot of overlap in content, they won't both appear? But I just don't know what on earth you'd talk about, or how to structure an essay!

I'm not a fan of geography but i would love History!
I also wouldn't mind economy but i study Economics too so that's probably a contributer haha. I don't think they'll do another economy question though because they've had one before but no question on the history yet.

Aww I really hope history won't come up, but if history does come up then it won't be for both questions right?

Either economy or history has come up every year so far except 2012... so we're well overdue a year without, and we're due a year with History, but who knows what OCR will decide to chuck in!!

I doubt it... it's not possible to guarantee, but I don't think they could ask 2 questions which were different enough, and I think they'd recognise it limits candidates?

Like different regions are biased towards different areas, so I think they have 2 questions in case you study a region which is particularly insignificant in one of the areas?

We study Poitou-Charentes which doesn't have much of an exciting history, so that would be a nightmare for me! :rolleyes:

I think one history question is likely, along with a tourism question. I think AQA always watch out for being able to guess- the two essay questions we had on Spanish this year (film director) were very random and nothing like expected!

I'm struggling to revise other than a bit of vocab, I've done all the translations!

When I did my film essay in Spanish, I structured it into introduction, then 3 main bodies, each explaining a different point and relating it to the question (in this case the essay was asking about how the film we had studied can guarantee the director success in the future).

For each paragraph, I made the point, explained it with examples in the film, gave lots of personal reaction and then explained why I thought it was an important aspect to guarantee the director success in the future.

My teacher has recommended the essay is structured into an introduction, 3/4 main points and a conclusion. Apparently personal reaction is also vital (I learnt this the hard way, one of my essays had 'personal reaction!!!' in red pen all over it :frown:

)! Also make sure to show off all of your grammar skills, stick in a bunch of subjunctives, si clauses, passé historique, etc. Whatever you know, just show it off!

Le week-end dernier, je visite ma grands-parents et manger los bon bons. Le samedi après-midi, je suis allé au parc et marcher dans les bois, j'aime les bois parce que j’aime montée arbres. Le samedi soir je me suis regarder britains got tallent c’était super Je pense que britains got tallent est génial.
Le weekend j'ai dormi tard et réveillé à onze heures déteste faire fatigue. Regarder le film Alice in wonderland et travaillé sur les mathématiques.
Week-end prochain , je vais pour jouer dans le sable avec mon cousin s’appelle Elizabeth j'aime la plage, à moins il fait froid puis le détester parce que je n'aime pas le froid. Manger créme de glacée, crème glacée est grand et délicieux.

Ah, that would be a dream! I adore tourism, too, but I don't think it's named on the spec so it might be a bit mean to name it as a question?

It also doesn't help that we're now ending the specs, so all the exam boards and bringing out the questions they want to use while they can -_-

Just practicing the french history essay and I realised I have no idea how to use the subjunctive in the past. Is that even a thing?
Like I want to say 'although Charles de Gaulle understood the risks' and all I have is 'bien que Charles de Gaulle comprenne les risques' (sorry no accents I am lazy but I know they should be there) - does that work? Or should I just avoid the subjunctive in the past and go for stuff like 'il faut qu'on sache l'importance de'...etc

One of the German ones was about what impressed you about their work, and if you'd criticise anything.

FYI the German play questions were about whether the work was funny or tragic, and then one about the aims or goals of the playwright

Neither of my cultural topics are on history but I'm pretty sure AQA don't expect you to know the past historic, check the specification though maybe just to make sure

I think you have to recognise the past historic, but use the past subjunctive - I just realised you just have to use the subjunctive auxiliary verb and add a past participle for a perfect subjunctive tense.
So it would be 'bien que Charles de Gaulle ait compris les risques'
Dunno about the imperfect subjunctive, I will just pray that I get to avoid that.

try doing the translation question s from each exam board - wjec aaa and edexcel, it's good practice
