Some atrocities are less newsworthy than others.

500 killed last week, including 40 children. 40,000 at risk, 130,000 made homeless refugees. And yet you have to search for any reports of it. Why is this?

Title should say "newsworthy" BTW.

You can edit the title of your threads...not entirely sure how though.

News reporters must prioritise some stories over others. For the big stories if its the top story for some of the papers then it must become top story on them all. At the end of the day newspapers etc are profit making organisations driven by a need to increase their audience. Therefore they will prioritise those stories that they think will generate the most interest. Muslims terrorist killing Muslims in Iraq is not that interesting to most people.
Lots have been murdered by Ukraine's military but the media ignores it as people would gain sympathy for pro-Russian rebels.

Yup. We even have people who think Palestine is a bigger deal than Syria.
Here is a story about Qatar (you know the ones that fund Hamas and bribed their way to get the world cup). Apparently in the building of the World Cup stands 1,000 migrant workers (practically slaves) have been killed already which is set to total around 4,000 by the end of construction.

Found the updated version, so this has been going on for over a year

I agree. The media coverage of the flight that was shot down over the Ukraine far outweighed the coverage of the assault on the Gaza strip. I was pretty surprised considering the level of fatalities.

People fighting in Israel happens all the time for the past who knows how long.

An airliner getting shot down almost never happens - hence it's big news. Also add to that it was the same airline that lost a plane a few months previous.

It's not always about number of dead people, otherwise the news everyday would be the number of road traffic deaths in India.

Probably also worth pointing out that the coverage of the plane lasted a few days to a week at most. The situation in Gaza was the top news story for three weeks or more. So I think more coverage was given to that than the airplane.

Actually it;s because jewish people own the media and they prefer to focus their attention elsewhere.

Of course it is. How could anyone forget?

If it happens in an English-speaking country, it's a tragedy.

Obviously some things are more newsworthy than others. That is after all, kind of how news works...
Top news stories are primarily designed to attract readers so the newspaper sells, not to cover the most 'important' news all the time. Why do you think sports news receives so much attention? Also, news is often politically biased, so stories favouring the country the newspaper is based in, or its beliefs, will be given more coverage than stories which are critical.
