Which introduction sounds better?

I have two introductions for an AS WJEC essay on Oleanna
'How effective is the ending of Mamet's play 'Oleanna'?'

Which sounds better?

The ending to Mamet’s play ‘Oleanna’ ties a brutal parallel to cases of sexual harassment on university campuses in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. In the final scene, John and Carol represent the perceived ‘elite’ and a lower class respectively, emphasize the controversial distinctions between the two social cohorts, further exemplifying Oleanna as one of American’s most disputed plays of the last quarter century.

The ending to Mamet’s play ‘Oleanna’ ties a brutal parallel to cases of sexual harassment on university campuses in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. Representative of a perceived ‘elite’ and a lower class respectively, John and Carol shockingly develop in the last scene, showing how it’s no wonder it’s one of the most controversial American plays of the last quarter century.
