For GCSE or A2? I'm doing A2 Cold War with Edexcel.

I don't do that unit, or use AQA for that matter, but generally when revising for history I create mini index cards. On one side write a question, and on the other side write and answer but as briefly as possible. Then stick it around your room in an organised way (topics, themes, dates etc... whatever suits you) and from time to time glance at the questions and answer them. If you're not sure, turn them over and try to remember what's written.
Another way I find useful is dividing a A4 piece of paper into 3 parts (landscape) and write topics at the top of each part. Then go through my notes/textbook/revision guide and fill it in. Again, brief notes. Make it all colourful and interesting - I like arrows and bullet points and different layouts within the parts.
When you think you know the facts, do past questions(yeah, essays.. tons of essays) and hand them to your teacher to mark. Hope that helps!
