Degree in Art? Is it really worth it?

I studied first year Game Art at DMU and if you have no prior digital software experience such as 3DS max and photoshop and you are happy to lose your social life for 3/4 years go for it however the dropout and satisfaction rate for game art is really low and these artists are extremely overworked and not payed enough considering how much these game companies make
