What would be the most suitable accommodation for someone doing a masters who wants a quiet place? I'm not rich either haha but would prefer en suite
Cheapest en-suite would be The Quays. Its on campus but it is slightly further away than the others. I'll be living there next year and I'll be a fourth year .
I made Essex my insurance choice but I haven't heard anything from Essex so far, so is application for accomodation available now?
Only for "firmers". From the Essex website: "Students that have chosen Essex as their insurance choice can apply for accommodation at Essex if they do not meet the requirements of their firm choice University, once they have become 'firm' with Essex. Accommodation is guaranteed if applications are received by the deadline date of Friday 21 August 2015."

From posts last year don't leave it to the last minute!! They will start allocating on results day (last year some people ended up off campus) and the system used to take a few days to update once you had an online account
I'm really big on my night life too! Have applied for accommodation in the South Courts, anybody know if it's any good? Haven't got a problem with going out, I love it, will be looking to get as many friends as possible, flat mates, meeting people out, friends in the towers, all sorts! I've applied to study Philosophy
Hello everyone, this topic seems to be the right one to ask a question about accommodation… I am 21 and I'll start Uni this year (long story). My first choice of accommodation in Essex Uni are south courts, because they seem the quieter ones to live in and I really don't want to waste too much time on nightlife… Am I too old to live in student accommodation?

No you're not, i am 21 (22 in oct) and have applied for them, you'll be fine
Anyone choosing to live off-campus in their 1st year? I've chose Avon Way...(I'm 24 btw) as it's a fab deal + near everything! I kind of regret not choosing campus flats but pretty cool they got a safe bus that drives past avon way, the meadows, etc. I'm not a party animal but love socialising so think wherever people choose to stay you'll meet like-minded people.

South Courts. Nice and quiet, but close to everything and you can get close with your flatmates, because there's only 4 of you to a floor. Didn't live in Avon Way, not even once, but I think that's Greenstead which hasn't got good rep.
If anyone is still in need of accommodation, we've got a house of 4 girls looking for another person☺️ It's £360 a month, cheaper than the nice halls on campus and a kingsize room☺️ Right near campus and tesco! Message me on Facebook for more info - Bex Matticks
I've been advised by a previous student to stay well away from the greenstead area of Colchester even though there are a lot of student houses there, and tbh after looking at the area on google street view, I am going nowhere near it!
