I'm in a long term relationship and have a coil and I used to let him but now we use condoms as well as my periods have been irregular lately due to illness so we both find it easier to back up with a condom to save us panicking if my period arrives two weeks late. I used to use condoms with my ex and my current boyfriend before I got my coil as I wasnt on any contraception then. I have two friends who use condoms with their long term partners even though one's on the pill and the other has a coil; one never wants children and the other already has kids and doesn't want anymore. I've never had a ONS but if I did I'd use condoms.
