what should i do with my gap year?

I have a huge passion for travelling so i'm definitely considering going solo somewhere. Places i'd love to visit are canada and new zealand or australia. As it would be my first time solo I'd probably go with a tour company so I wouldn't have to worry about planning where and what i'm doing. Does anyone have any suggestions for tour companies? I've looked at contiki and real gap but both are expensive and looks more about the partying and getting drunk than the actual travelling so i'm not sure. As much as i like to party and have a few drinks i wouldn't want to spend the whole time feeling too hungover to enjoy myself. Also, as another option i've looked into working abroad, any advice/sites on that would be great too!

Tried looking at BUNAC?
Or if you go to New Zealand look at the bus pass companies like Stray or Kiwi Experience.
I heard that Kiwi experience is more of a party bus and Stray is more exploring off the beaten pass, either should be good if you don't like doing things on you're own.

Can't comment on other countries.
Explore : https://www.explore.co.uk/ The best company out there for this sort of trip. I've used them lots of times, fabulous.

Intrepid : http://www.intrepidtravel.com/uk Equally good/reliable and they go to some more unual places than Explore.

With both of these there were a good mix of people, ages and nationalities - and not the party-party format of outfits like Contiki.
