do you believe everything your parents tell you, then? I don't understand your reasoning in your answer. also, you said you were non-religious but then became religious and stopped "partying", right? so really you didn't convert, you just became a stricter muslim...

I explained my reasoning then you questioned me for not answering you question which I just did.
and obviously as a child I did believe everything my parents told me. when I hit 15/6 I was deciding whether it was real or not then studied the religion myself and that's what changed me. but my post about alcohol and self-esteem has nothing to do with my religion. I guess I can see how u got confused where I said I mainly don't drink cus its my choice , what I meant was even before I became strict it was my choice not to drink however I still partied.
and yes I didn't convert I just became stricter.
hopefully it makes more sense

there are loads. the more I found the more interested I was and searched up more. firstly I read the whole quran and thought that the level of science at the time when it was written couldn't have been written by any human or 'researcher' at that time. there's a description of how blood clots are formed which could not have been proven 1400years ago, same goes with the layers of the earth and atmosphere. how could they possible know which area of the brain was used for lying and aggression. it just all added up for me. I am not trying to prove that the Quran is the word of God using scientific knowledge but it makes sense. how can a world be so perfect and not have a creator. surely everything in this world is created by something or someone (there's no way I can make that up). the first person to be able to tell you the mechanism of an object is the creator. its so simple. plus you cant prove there isn't a God and nobody at all can prove that the Big bang theory ever happened cus it is just a theory. how can matter time and space just pop up out of nothing and nowhere, if u tell me it can i'll ask you to show me how. im not saying I know everything about the religion, but I knew enough at the time to convince me. some may need more convincing than others. this is what I watched and read that drew me in. http://www.missionislam.com/science/book.htm

like what?

there's a description of how blood clots are formed which could not have been proven 1400years ago, same goes with the layers of the earth and atmosphere.

give me the verse of this and I'll look at it - I am guessing it's total bull****

how could they possible know which area of the brain was used for lying and aggression.

oh I am just *dying* to know what you're misinterpreting to extrapolate *this*

it just all added up for me. I am not trying to prove that the Quran is the word of God using scientific knowledge but it makes sense. how can a world be so perfect and not have a creator.

so "perfect"? are you ****ing joking?

surely everything in this world is created by something or someone (there's no way I can make that up). the first person to be able to tell you the mechanism of an object is the creator.

...what?

its so simple. plus you cant prove there isn't a God and nobody at all can prove that the Big bang theory ever happened cus it is just a theory.

1) it's not the sceptic's job to prove there isn't a god, only to prove whether there is evidence for something or not
2) the big bang can be detected based on background radiation.
3) gravity is just a theory too - why do you believe in it? technically you can't see gravity if you can't see the big bang

how can matter time and space just pop up out of nothing and nowhere, if u tell me it can i'll ask you to show me how. im not saying I know everything about the religion, but I knew enough at the time to convince me. some may need more convincing than others. this is what I watched and read that drew me in. http://www.missionislam.com/science/book.htm

just because I don't believe in god, that's not to say I *know* how the universe got here - do you think that's what I was actually saying? am I supposed to claim that I *know* how the universe got here? no I don't - not knowing doesn't make it so I think that god is the most likely other option - the idea of a god is pretty much impossible.

nobody's saying you can't talk to people without alcohol - I'm only telling you that, obviously, it makes socialising easier.
alcohol makes you sick? you haven't gotten used to it yet - that would be why.
"why not drink juice"? why not drink gin and juice?
I've been drinking, heavily~, for years and I've very rarely ever done anything regrettable due to alcohol

if I ever did do anything I regretted, it was because I drank something like a litre of a spirit in an evening. nobody drinks that much though. either way, makes for funny stories later in life - that's how I optimistically view it anyway.

I don't drink *too* much - I just drink quite a lot when I do, instead of drinking spaced out over time which in my opinion is just pointless

I can appreciate that - I did it when I was your age. However, having lost my brother to liver failure last year, I am now much more aware of the dangers even of occasional drinking. But enjoy your time at uni :-)

That's unfortunate. Was it obesity or hepatitis that got him?

Obesity, smoking and alcohol were all contributors :-(
