Comp Sci at KCL

Can someone tell me about Comp Sci at KCL?
Not things that I know already (modules etc)

Is it intense?
Is the department good?
Is it a lot of theory? or is there a lot of practical to it too?
Your experiences? Etc

I'm applying for KCL too, want to go there so badly it hurts cri. I heard that the first year is very heavy on theory with little practical work, and unlike other unis has quite an intense first year to get everyone up to the same speed but the following years are more project based(?) I could be very wrong but i recall reading on another thread. Pls correct me if im wrong. Doubting ill ever get in cri, but it looks like they have a good department with good facilities. I went to the open day and i fell in love with the place.
