I think I read somewhere they sell brands not available in the UK, or ones that people ate when they were young and supermarkets no longer stock them?

yeah it pretty much is, but you can find a lot of the foreign brands n American sweets stores now. The cafe's kinda just a novelty throwback idea, not a place for daily breakfast or anything.
