Why don't the police just shoot these anarchist idiots with rubber bullets?

this isn't America. we don't just shoot everyone (even with rubber bullets)
Then again, this isn't America, we don't expect protesters to be that unruly.

How do you know they are anticapitalist? There is no problem over the price of consumer goods. Houses however is another matter as you will see if you watch tonight's QT from London. I would wager a better description for many protesters would be anti-rentiership
According to the Guardian they are anti-capitalist: http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/nov/05/three-arrested-anti-capitalist-protesters-million-mask-march

If they didn't spend their money on overpriced shoes and similar things they could have probably saved for a mortgage deposit.

Idc they themselves don't know their arse from their elbow when talking about the economy, much less the Guardian.

Your second point is laughable -- have you any idea about the housing market in London? The idea that people can't afford to buy houses because they're too busy buying high street retail goods. Next you'll be blaming it on immigrants!

Anything to deflect blame from successive governments. You know just as well as I do the fault lies with them but instead you turn to the weak scapegoats because you're scared to take on the government. Cowardice in my book.

You think that to be part of a protest in London you are necessarily from London? That is definitely one of the funniest things I've heard for a while.

Because it's an anti-capitalist protest? Though to be fair half the rent-a-yobs we see on these "protests" don't even know what it is they're protesting about or they just tag along for whatever because it's been a slow week at 6th form for Toby.

Even if we take your word that this little scrote is an "anti-rentier" protester, who the hell drops a hundred quid on trainers and like 90 on jeans when they can't afford the rent? Not that lots of these people even pay rent given that they're either middle-class 6th formers or fedora-wearing neck beards living in their mum's basement.

Besides, brb, can't afford the rent so I'll riot and throw large objects at horses. It's a shame there are police horses at these events. They're in danger because of these thugs. I look forward to when they can be policed by drones armed with pepper spray guns so that no more horses can be harmed.
No, just let them embarrass themselves and damage their cause as much as possible. They can throw all the tantrums they like as far as I'm concerned if it helps stop them getting their own way.

Not that I wouldn't like to see them blasted to hell with water cannon at least, but let's play the long game.

If they are self described anarchists they will be anti-capitalist in the true sense of the meaning. Unless it is how most "socialists" are not actually anti-capitalist nowadays.

There is nothing totalitarian about shooting rioters with less lethal rounds.

There is nothing totalitarian in stopping violent protest whereby rioters cause thousands of pounds in damages and can injure officers of the law. In my opinion going against your Government should be punished by death, you simply don't argue with the government.

How would you define this. Voting for an opposition party? A critical comment to a friend about a government policy?

I think you need to think this out a bit more - and consider the reality of what you are suggesting.
**** democracy when we don't get our way, lets go vandalise stuff to show people how angry we are.

Similar law was in USSR whereby anyone criticising the government was either shot or sent to Siberia for hard labour, worked well as people were afraid to do anything against their government. But that may be too radical, however for damaging public property e.g. police cars, rioters should be punished very harshly as a deterrent.

I'm not sure OP knows what an anarchist is.

Opposing police with violence and chaos doesn't mean that you oppose government in all forms.

Sympathy for this point of view, although I really don't agree that our current system reflects functioning democracy.

Haha, you'd think what with them being the 99% and all, the votes would go their way.
If you keep treating the proletariat like **** they will come after you. Benefits cut too much too fast, proposed Tax credits cut, NHS waiting to be privatized, rising costs on everything, no rent controls on landlords,

Do you expect people to just roll over and be cool with it?

And if they keep smashing and burning things which don't belong to them, the government will have an excuse to tighten its grip; not to mention people will just see the "protesters" as scumbags.

You seem pretty upset about this: do you ever direct such vitriol at powerful targets? Imagine how you would react if I spoke in similar terms about "bankers" or "tax avoiders".

What is wrong with a trustafarian type - if your ridiculous judgements are accurate - being angered by the injustice they see in our society and going on a protest?

Should we only be concerned about things that affect us? I guess you are a Tory, I know it's hard to understand...
