Jamie Vardy - on the way to world class?

10 goals in 10 games, looks like a typical Liverpool gamble signing tbh.

I'd wait to see if he repeats the same feat next season. Or at least shows signs of it.
I don't think he will ever be world-class.

Thankfully now Rodgers has bitten it they might be a bit more sensible.

Make no mistake, the lad's had an amazing, nay phenomenal and downright perfect streak, but he's not a youngster.
Michael Bridges, Marcus Stewart, Michael Ricketts, James Beattie, Andrew Johnson, Grant Holt, and now Jamie Vardy.

There's always one.
The lads 29
That guy ain't world class this is just a great season like Darren Bent first for Sunderland

Vardy is one of the best natural finishers I have ever seen.

He isn't world class and he will never be world class.

Obviously he's a good player, he's got great pace, is tidy with the ball at his feet and is a good finisher, but there's a big gap between good and great, and he doesn't cross that gap.

He's extremely lucky that he's playing in a system that suits him perfectly, a system where they are constantly looking for the ball that will allow him to stretch his legs to get behind his defender, and he is the focal point for the entire team.

Put him in a different club, where he'll have to play in a different way, and he's just another player rather than being the most important player on the pitch, and I would put money on him looking nowhere near as good as he has this year.

How many times have we seen players who have a great season for a relatively small club, be picked up for a vastly inflated price by a big team, only to go on to do absolutely nothing? Time and time again we see players who thrive in a very specific system but are exposed as being a decent, but not great, player as soon as they're expected to play in a different system.

Andy Carroll didn't even do what those players did. He had a good 4 months.

Darren Bent isn't among the group of journeyman Englishman who had one good season. He'd been playing very well before at Charlton and had another really campaign the season after.

There are loads of other examples; DJ Campbell, Charlie Austin, Darren Huckerby, Rickie Lambert, Marlon Harewood etc. There are so many examples of English strikers who come to newly promoted clubs tear it up and go back to being mediocre.
He reminds me a lot of Inzaghi tbh, all you haters saying he can't play forget he is a striker and his natural instinct is to score.

Inzaghi was always offside.
Nah he's having a one season wonder like Kane did last year

Except that Kane is actually now playing pretty well again. Sure he started this season slowly because people had figured out how to defend against him, but he eventually picked himself back up and has looked like a good striker after the first few weeks. Not having as much of an impact as he did last year but by no means a one season wonder.

That's not really fair.

Bent was good at Ipswich, good at Charlton, decent if not outstanding at Tottenham, had a fantastic season with Sunderland, and then was pretty good for his first two years at Villa.

Similarly to Kane, it's worth giving him another season before declaring such a thing.

Kane was world class at times last season but he's average this time around.
In the same way, Vardy has never shone until this season and there's no saying he will the year after.

Definitely does scream a 20m Liverpool bid under Rodgers but at least now with Firmino, Sturridge and Benteke we won't do it

For £40million, probably.
