Is it best to avoid dating a friend?
I just dont think I could like handle losing her if the relationship fell apart you know. Do you guys think it is best to not go down that road?

Pretty much all friendships are pointless and die in the end, so it makes no sense to stay just friends to avoid losing them.
It's worth trying.
If she's a good friend and you like her more than that then why not? And if she likes you in return of course. Sure if you break up it can be ugly but that's life.
A few years ago I lost a 15+ years friend who was with me all the time for absolutely no reason. A few months ago I lost my 10+ years best friend for a pointless thing. That sucks but what can you do.
