Changing from Mechanical to Product Design Engineering

Hello there,

I am currently in my second year at University of Glasgow studying Mechanical Engineering. I have just recently started to realise that I think I should instead be studying product design engineering. I picked my course on the basis that I was good at maths and physics, I liked problem solving and it was a comfortable thought that I would be pretty sorted for a career once I had my degree. Since being at uni I feel like I've just got on with it and not given it much thought but I am only now realising who I am and where my interests lie.

I have always enjoyed art although I don't do nearly as much these days as I would like to. I took graphical communication at higher level in school and I did really well in it. I have also loved all the Solidworks projects involved with Mech Eng that we have done so far.

Does anyone have any insight into my situation? and what sort of jobs or postgrad options do you have once completing the course?

I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on the matter!

Thanks,
Will
