bmw 1 series

Has anyone here got one (an old one) what are your thoughts on it? Has it been a good car?

Brilliant little cars to drive. But then they would be, because it's really a Rover.
Even the 116i will pull along OK through town. Although, it could really do with a bit more grunt. So, consider the 120d as the smallest engine worth going for.
I would also ensure you buy one with leather. BMW cloth interiors are erm... grim.
As with all BMW's service history is everything. If it's had a recent inspection 2 then so much the better as that's usually the expensive one.

The ones with the most toys seem to be Automatics in strange colours. These will be ex elder owners and will likely be low mileage and well looked after. Some of them even have a pop up satnav in the dash.
