As ocr biology carbohydrates question

I was just doing some last minute revision and I saw amylopectin (1,6 and 1,4 glycosidic bonds) is more branched yet more compact than amylose (1,4 glycosidic bonds forms a helix). I am just confused how is it more compact if it's more branched?
Amylose is coiled and so compact because more can be stored in a smaller space.
Amylopectin is a long branched so that enzymes can get at the bonds easily to break down the molecule to get at the glycosidic bonds no?
Or have i been something completely wrong...
