Ah you had an external examiner; almost everyone I know doing A-Level German gets external, but I get my teacher for it which is great x) Good luck for your results!

WELL HERE'S TO THE WRITING EXAM GUYS!

Lucky you!
I'm going to start some essay writing as from monday, do you guys know where we can find sample/example essays from previous years?

I wish you good luck too!

Hey. Did you find the stimulus card difficult?
(You don't need to provide details of the card, I just want to know your general thoughts....)

Hey, my stimulus card wasn't difficult at all. There were a lot of points that I was able to say for the 1min presentation and to defend the card. The other students (from the school where I sat the exam externally) also mentioned that the cards that were given to them were simple.

Could you PM me (seeing as we've both done the exam we can discuss what came up in private) what cards you got  Mine really weren't that simple so I'm really interested in finding out what others got!

Yeah sure
So would you say that the cards on the whole aren't dead scary as I am so worried about them I don't know how to prepare 😬

In general, based on discussions with others, most of them are relatively fine cards. I'd say there's perhaps 1/2 which are a bit tricky.

I can't say anymore
Ok thank you so much! That means there's a good chance I will at least like one of them 😂 I just never know how good you need to be to get like an A/A*

all those people got 47/50+ on the speaking, it's actually not as demanding as you think. There are plenty of grammatical errors in their speech as well as pronunciation issues, but it's the fact their content is really good and they are using high-level grammar (even if it's sometimes wrongly worded) which gets them the A.

Hey everyone!! Had my speaking today and thought it went okay although my cards were quite challenging tbh. If anyone wants to discuss it feel free to message  !!

Wd Anna!

@Anna1909 @Spainsia @Lucky987 @hattybiebs @greentron6 @koifen @jasminglynne @ anyone else who looks at this thread.

I typically get 5/5 on grammar on essays (or 4 if i like... forget to include any difficult grammar lol) and I decided to make a checklist the other day of all the really really hard grammar points in German that'll easy get you 5/5 on the grammar providing you use enough of them (i mean like i guess 5-10 would be enough but i can't really know that) + properly + consistently. I'm sharing the checklist here and if you have any questions about any I've written then just ask

Make sure you know what you're doing when you use them and remember that content is very very important so you need to suplement these grammar points with good content.

This is probably a silly question but have we got to speak as fast as these people in order to get 47+?

To me that don't sound that fast (well the first one is a bit scatty) but no you wouldn't 'have' to speak that fast. They mark on intonation and pronunciation, not speed. Of course the 'fluency' marked section does take into account speed, but that really means not pausing every 5 seconds to think and trying to keep a natural, conversational pace
Any predictions for: question 15. (Director/film) or 12. (Historical period)?

I think q15 and q12 generally have the same themes, especially q12 which is usually a) what is ur opinion/how has this director done something amazing/did you like this work blah blah, and b) what motivated your director/what are the themes underpinning his works/what is he trying to say

One of last year's questions was so odd though (2016 papers are on aqa website btw), it was like What are the strengths and weaknesses of the works of your chosen director. I was like ??? pardon ???

Yeah I've seen that one :biggrin:, but the second option was alright I think, if I remember correctly it asked for how the director tried to motivate and move the audience
