The humanity does not make sense. All this is a big mistake, an accident, and we have to live as if the meaning of existing is here right in our hands.

Biology can't think and only really keeps you in prime condition until about 40 anyway so yeah, beyond breeding there is no real point to humanity beyond that.

With that being said, humans are a sentient species and can therefore choose their own purpose once breeding has been achieved. For some it is to genetically engineer a superior human. For others, it is to bring order to the universe.

I will say that humanity's history suggests that our future purpose probably won't be one we'd view as pleasant today. As we move into the space age, i'm very confident that we will begin the imperial age anew.

Being 'it' leaves us at a disadvantage in terms of figuring out what we are but the eagerness and resourcefulness in life to stay on like the Olympic flame can only be more suggestive of a point to it than... not. Salmon are compelled into struggling up a river for a purpose, whether they know it or not does not change anything.

It could simply be too early to tell what the point of the living world is, were there one and we couldn't reasonably be expected to understand it.

To me, our purpose has always been to strive for justice and to find the nature of that justice. We can choose to live with hope and meaning, and to live with the idea that death is not the end, but the beginning. Of course, biology tells you that you're a reproductive machine, but you can simply choose not to be. A purpose is absolute and something you live by. You don't live by reproduction; it is not an obligation.
