NHS Course Funding Wales - Living cost help

Hi,

I just started Diagnostic Radiography in Cardiff UNI.

And I feel like I don't have enough money for my living cost.

This is how it works ( I think )

1. The tuition fee is paid by the NHS

2. I get non means bursary = £1000

3. NHS provides basic award = £2643

4. Extra Weeks allowance = £672

5. Student Finance Wales (reduced rate) = £3030

So, in total I get a measly £ 7345 per year

that's £612 a month

With my really cheap rent (with bills) of £400, I get £212 to spend on food and transport and everything else.. that's £7 a day!

I'm in uni 9-4, for 5 days a week, and barely have time to get a part time job in between assignments

Are there any financial help I failed to apply for?

It says in the student finance wales something called

Welsh Government Learning Grant
Are NHS students eligible for that?

P.S. I'm an independent student with not financial help from my single parent whatsoever
The learning grant is a means-tested maintenance grant paid to students.

According to this you're entitled to:

The full amounts for 2016/17 have not been released, but are likely to be in line with those in England. The Current (2015/16) figures are as follows:

“It has been decided that the following arrangements will apply in Wales from September 2012, in line with the arrangements in England:

New students will receive a non-means tested grant of £1,000

A means tested bursary of up to £4,395

Access to additional support in the form of a maintenance loan of up to £2,324 (up to a lower rate of £1,811 in the final year of study).

Your uni may have an access to learning fund.

That sounds like the maximum amount available to me, how much is your accommodation a week?

£7345 is a very reasonable amount, many students get a lot less than that.
