Bucks New Uni - Top tips and FAQs

Hi Everyone!

This is a new thread for top tips and FAQs.

If there are any tips you'd like to share about applying to uni, we'd love to hear from you! Or if there is something you are unsure of, chances are someone else has had the same thought as you, so hopefully we can get the answers to these questions all in one place.

We'll be regularly posting useful information on here, starting with 'Top tips for personal statements'. I'm sure many of your schools or colleges are encouraging you to get your UCAS applications in ASAP, but if you're struggling with where to start, maybe these top ten tips will help.

This infographic and more information about making your application can be found on our website, but we're here to help so if you have any questions, just ask!

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying the countdown to the festive period! We certainly are, but rest assured we are as busy as Santa’s elves, processing all your applications right up until we close on 23 December.

Not submitted your UCAS application yet? Don’t panic. There’s still time before the 15 January UCAS deadline to finish your personal statement (and your Christmas shopping), make your choices and submit your application.

Submitting your application before the deadline will mean we guarantee to consider you (and you’ll have more time to hit the January sales once you’re done!). Applications made after the 15 January deadline will be considered if we still have places available on your chosen course, so it’s worth getting it in to us as soon as you can. However, it’s important you take your time over your application and complete it to the best of your ability so we get the best impression of you and why you want to come and study with us.

Wait until you’ve received all the information you need, such as details of your qualifications and your reference before you hit submit. Without this information we won’t be able to make an informed decision about your application and it may delay things further.

If it doesn’t look like you’ll be able to get everything to us before the deadline, it’s worth giving us a quick call before you submit, just to check we’ve still got places available on the course you’re choosing.

Still not made your mind up? Why not come to our open evening next week. Have a look around, meet staff and current students and get advice on submitting your UCAS application. And if that isn’t a good enough reason to come, maybe the prospect of free mince pies and mulled wine will be?!

We hope to see you soon.

Hi everyone,

I've just started a new accommodation thread for those of you due to join us in September 2017. We'd love to hear which halls of residence you will be staying in and which course you will be studying!

You can find answers to many FAQs on our website, but if there's anything else relating to housing that we can help with, just head on over to the accommodation thread and we'll be happy to help.

Look forward to hearing from you!
