The Student Room Group

Southampton, York or Exeter?

Can anyone rank these in order of general prestige and how highly they're respected by law firms (especially firms in the City) Also how lenient they tend to be for grades?

http://www.chambersstudent.co.uk/where-to-start/newsletter/law-firms-preferred-universities (although bear in mind https://www.prospects.ac.uk/postgraduate-study/law-qualifications/changes-to-qualifying-as-a-lawyer )

As for leniency - look on which? university and bestcourse4me to find out the common achieved grades of entrants.

Remember though that the employment market is changing substantially. At least one magic circle firm (http://www.independent.co.uk/student/news/exclusive-law-firm-clifford-chance-adopts-cv-blind-policy-to-break-oxbridge-recruitment-bias-9050227.html )has introduced university blind applications and the trend is for wider representation in all sectors. Add in the changes from the SRA and you may well be best placed applying to a course with a more skills based focus and a poorer history of graduates entering city firms.
